BEAUTY'S SECRETS - Chechel Joson -

Isn’t it amazing that we now have all these wonderful technologies to help us take care of our skin? From skin care treatments to makeup, we now have so many choices as to what kind of mild and safe products and treatments we can use to help prevent skin problems and aging.

It is important to know that how you treat your skin now will greatly affect your skin condition in the future. Let us start with skin care. Once you find the right skin care products for your skin’s needs, then stick to it. Never forget to always apply sunblock before leaving home. It is better to start taking care of your skin at an early age than worrying about it later in life when it is already too late. Once in a while, incorporate exfoliants into your skin care regimen. This will help improve the texture of your skin. It is also important to know, and I suggest you discuss this with your dermatologist, to have light peel treatments a few times in a year, depending on your age. There are so many types of peels and your dermatologist will tell you the kind of peel your skin needs — if your skin needs it at all. There are so many benefits your skin will get from doing fruit peels every year: it greatly improves the texture of the skin because it removes the damaged outer layers of the skin; your fine lines are reduced; and it helps the skin absorb your care products giving you better results.

One kind of peel is called glycolic chemical peel. It is a deep, intensive skin treatment focusing on the resurfacing and renewing of the epidermis. This procedure is done very fast. You will feel a little sting here and there when the solution is applied to the face. After a minute or two, the chemical is washed off with water and you are done.

Another treatment that I love, aside from RF (radio frequency skin tightening), is a facial called hydrafacial. Hydrafacial removes dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing serums. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective. It is another form of skin resurfacing procedure. You can actually have this treatment done before you go out on an important event because it is very relaxing and your skin looks so radiant after the treatment.

Now that your skin can finally breathe from exfoliants and treatments, make sure that your makeup will not clog your newly cleaned pores. Use formulas that are water-based and non-comedogenic. This way, if you feel the need to use makeup, you know that you are using products that will not harm your skin. My suggestion is, after getting a treatment, groom your eyebrows well, curl your lashes (apply mascara if needed) and finish with your lip color. That’s all you need. I suggest you let your skin breathe after treatments.

I cannot stress enough the importance of taking good care of your skin. Pamper it, take extra good care of it, nourish it and most of all, love it. Trust me, as the days go by, you will see how your skin is improving. When you are devoted to taking extra good care of your skin, you will appreciate the glow of healthy youthful skin more and more every day. When you know you took good care of your skin, it is such a breath of fresh air knowing how great it feels and looks.
