Honoring an exceptional man

- Johnny Litton -

“Journey quietly on your pathway to forever with charity and a smile. When you depart it will be said by all that your legacy was a better world than the one you found.”  — Og Mandino in ‘The Gift of Acabar’

After making monumental contributions to different fields of business, government service and philanthropy, dynamic diplomat Philippe Lhuillier was recently conferred with the Doctor of Humanities Honoris Causa degree from the St. Louis University. Famous for establishing the leading pawnshop chain Cebuana Lhuillier, the PJ Lhuillier Foundation that helped a lot of scholars and for being the Philippine envoy to Italy for 11 years, the man of the hour was truly deserving of the degree, which he accepted during the Baccalaureate Mass celebrated by Baguio City Bishop Carlito Cenzon. Joining Ambassador Lhuillier during the event was his lovely wife Edna and their children.

To the great diplomat, may your golden heart and brilliant mind continue to touch the lives of more people. Congratulations!

Presenting the fashionable Filipina

The beauty of the Filipina is beyond physical: it goes deep to the Filipina’s distinction, intellect and creativity in many aspects. This fact sparked the creation of the highly-successful Filipina, Bravo!, a series of events to honor Filipino women. Spearheaded by Ayala Group of Companies chairman emeritus Don Jaime Zobel de Ayala and carried out by his lovely daughters Bea Zobel Jr. and Sofia Zobel-Elizalde, the event’s finale featured some contemporary fashion mavens who set the trend in the local fashion industry, in collaboration with Filipina, Bravo! creative director Inno Sotto. Among the brilliant ladies who showcased their exquisite creations were legendary designers Patis Tesoro and Criselda Lontok, queen of knits Lulu Tan Gan, famed femme favorite Patrice Ramos-Diaz, silk heiress Katrina Goulbourn, Bonne Bouche’s Michi Calica, Elena Bautista and Emi Jorge, fashion-forward designers Tippi Ocampo, Kate Torralba and Hindy Weber-Tantoco, easy fashion for the working mom from Yvette and Choc Religioso with Arlene Sipat, award-winning and British-trained Mich Dulce and supermodel-turned-designer Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales for Myth, acclaimed bag designer and SoFA founder Amina Aranaz, exquisite accessories designer Ana Rocha and excellent pearls from Jewelmer.

Hats off to these exceptional designers and to the Ayala Group of Companies for another milestone for the Filipina!
