Fun in the sun!

-

MANILA, Philippines - The season of sun is fun. What’s with the summer heat that allows one to create unforgettable moments under the sun? The many joys of summer becomes “sunforgettable” with the use of mineral sunscreen. The Colorescience Sunforgettable Sunscreen protects skin with 100 percent pure minerals.

What can mineral sunscreen do that regular sunscreen can’t? While we all know the benefits of slathering on sunscreen before hitting the beach or going outdoors, a lot of us don’t enjoy doing so. Traditional sunscreen makes our skin white and greasy that we end up breaking out, also partly due to harsh ingredients, emollients and fragrances. Second, most sunscreens are so thick that they usually don’t work well with makeup. And third, to get the most protection, it has to be reapplied every so often, which is a really tedious task when you’re out on the beach having fun. Believe it or not, mineral sunscreen gets rid of these problems and more.

Colorescience uses nanotechnology to create a better medium for applying sunscreen: brush-on powder SPF. It is the first SPF 30 mineral powder with broad spectrum UVA and UVB sun protection. Unlike traditional sunscreens, Colorescience Sunforgettable, which holds the Skin Cancer Foundation’s prestigious Seal of Recommendation, offers immediate, very water-resistant protection. It has a high resistance to breaking down under water, humidity and sweat, and does not require a 15 to 20 minute waiting time as traditional sunscreens do. The pure mineral formula is free of chemicals, making it ideal for all ages.

Mineral sunscreen is not greasy on skin and can be easily reapplied throughout the day, over or under makeup, creating a higher level of patient compliance to physician recommended protocols. Colorescience Sunforgettable relies on the reflective and refractive properties of micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.

How does Colorescience Sunforgettable sun protection work?

According to Diane Ranger, founder and CEO of Colorescience, sun protection is the single most potent anti-aging product. “More than 90 percent of all skin cancers are caused by sun exposure,” says Ranger. “Sunforgettable’s revolutionary formula combined with the soft brush delivery system and fun metallic blue packaging perfectly combines the beauty of color and the advancements of science, making skin cancer prevention simple and attractive.”

Colorescience’s tiny mineral pigments adhere to and lie on top of the skin surface providing a protective barrier from the environment to prevent skin damage, freckling and uneven coloration. Titanium dioxide acts like a mirror and has great reflective properties. Zinc oxide acts like a sponge and has light absorbing properties to protect the skin from UVA and UVB radiation. Mineral powder protection is the best choice for those with sensitive skin, because of the cooling effect brought about by the iron oxides present in 100 percent pure mineral sunscreen.

How can you get the most of mineral sunscreen?

Colorescience Sunforgettable is practical in itself. Its no-spill package lets you apply sunscreen on-the-go and you only have to reapply after 80 minutes of excessive swimming or perspiration, or if you rub your skin. SPF 30 means you can stay in the sun up to 30 times longer than you normally could without getting sunburned. Layering often provides added protection, so you can use it with other Colorescience products.

(Colorescience is available at Beauty by SM in SM Megamall, SM Makati, SM Fairview, SM North EDSA, Watsons Greenbelt 1 and all House of Obagi branches and affiliated dermatologists nationwide. Soon to open in Watsons Mall of Asia. Call 928-8722 for more information.)
