As a fitting tribute to the Filipino’s masterful and world renowned ingenuity, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), led by its chairman Miguel Varela, chairman emeritus Ambassador Donald Dee, honorary chairman and treasurer Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis Jr. and president Edgardo Lacson, recently held an International Gala Night and Fashion Show with Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo as guest of honor. Held at the Manila Hotel’s Fiesta Pavilion, it featured a rare gathering of the country’s top business leaders and members of the diplomatic community exquisitely dressed in a Michele Varela piña ensemble in a one night only, mega fashion and social event dubbed Simply Smart, Simply Amazing! The stately affair coincided with PCCI’s 34th business conference with Smart Communications as presenting partner. With the backing of the international diplomatic community, including Ambassador Gregoire Vardakis of Belgium and Saudi Arabian Ambassador Mohammed Ammen Wali, this event is expected to pioneer the growing and laudable appreciation for the world-class talents and creations of Filipino designers.
