The Philosophy of Style

MULTIPLE CHOICE - Luis Espiritu Jr. -

Style is relative. Fashion in the 21st century is unrestricted or dictated by a specific trend or look. Modern times call for practicality, versatility and functionality in design that is no longer specific, dictatorial or restraining. There is an overflowing of creativity that expresses style without textual and contextual boundaries. Today, fashion is a reflection of a lifestyle and complex individual personalities that define the modernity of style. Bold, fearless and substantial, the look of the future offers a multitude of options to suit one’s taste and understanding of personality preferences. The psychology behind this chic revolution is global awareness in design that is forward and comfort thinking. People today are more fashion literate and are more knowledgeable on fabric, form, design, silhouette and colour. Trending is inspirational and is optionally personal. With an array of must-haves, must-buys and looks of the moment, style is no longer what brand or who’s the designer you’re wearing but more on how you’re wearing it. Furthermore, there is a great attention to comfort dressing that seems to be currently relevant in these hard times.

Multiple Choice recently worked with the SOFA (School of Fashion and the Arts) fashion styling students to present their modern interpretation of individual fashion that expresses and defines personal aesthetics. The result is a showcase of a variety of fashion the youth speaks of today.      There are no mistakes but mere statements that give us a hint of what the future of local styling will behold.
