Zambia celebrates

 Zambia’s Honorary Consul in the Philippines, Consul Luis Ablaza Jr., recently hosted a reception to commemorate the 43rd independence celebration of the Republic of Zambia. The affair was attended by a multitude of guests including Zambia’s Ambassador to Japan, Ambassador Godfrey Simasiku.  Undersecretary Franklin Ebdalin of the Department of Foreign Affairs, who delivered a congratulatory message to President Levy Mwanawasa from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, hailed the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Zambia. 

It was truly a magnificent and remarkable evening!

Happy birthday, Jojo!

Just recently, music idol RJ Jacinto and his gorgeously statuesque wife Frannie threw a superb surprise party for their good friend Jojo Zabarte at RJ’s Bar in Makati. Henry, the celebrator’s loving husband, also took part in making sure his stunning wife had the night of her life. An intimate gathering of close friends and family including Herman and Ginajane Grey and the celebrator’s siblings Louie, Joey and Tina Kierulf joined in the celebration. Guests were entertained by the party host, legendary RJ Jacinto, as they danced the night away to the swinging rock and roll.

This week, your columnist recommends Luis Felipe Edwards’ Shiraz Gran Reserva. An exceptional dark colored plum that offers a powerful nose with cherry and nicely integrated oak. In the mouth, it is full bodied, with a rich and concentrated core of black and wild berries.  Well balanced and with plenty of complex tastes.  Serve with veal, pork and red meat dishes.
