Are we sleeping...?

A SPIRITED SOUL - Jeannie E. Javelosa -

The worst state one can be in today is to be asleep. Asleep to the presence of Ego and the controlling effects that this has on our actions, thoughts and decisions. I say worst because the people who are asleep and unaware are the same people creating the havoc in their own lives that affect other people and inevitably affect the world.

We see this every day, in people who have no sense of control, who scream in anger, who judge with such vengeance and rage that blinds them to their own negativities. We see this in ourselves when we are not aware of our environment and the earth’s state and go about our lives selfishly for the moment’s gratification.

Ego controls the people whose value systems are screwed up because they believe money and the illusionary world of power is the only reality. Ego controls the very world we live today, in almost all its details... in believing that we need more and more for ourselves, wanting more and more in selfish abandon and narcissm. So wars are fought, positions are vied for, the latest status symbol item must be purchased. Ego dominates our consciousness that creates the world we have today.

Ego cares the least for relationships that need awareness and care. By relationships, I do not just mean loved ones and friends, but relationship to society and nature. Ego turns away from connections to self-less community work or helping people, or does so only when Ego gets center stage and applause. Ego cuts off the connection to what is solid, real. Ego keeps away from the Upper World of the Light, or the Inner world of reflections. The wisdom books speak of building one’s house upon solid ground and not on shifting sands. Solid ground is your connection to your Inner Self. And this is the direction one must take today in learning to keep Ego in tow or out of the way.

A seeming desperation in the air at the apparent underlying chaos of this period of transition makes people experience feelings of desperation. So Ego nudges and says... “commit to suffering and to the negative path of indulging in material that is transient,” thus cleverly drawing us away from the core of our being.

If we take to the inner world of reflection, we will begin to hear that inner voice inside us that will lead us to a certain degree of discernment. To wiser choices if we wish to maintain a higher state of balance and spiritual awareness, for without these, the negative news and energies of the world today can really be overwhelming. Everyone is forced to look inward, clean up the repressed issues and look towards the Creator and the Light. This is what is missing so much in our world today. And this is the great spiritual awakening in consciousness that has slowly but surely been emerging. Ego is being overtaken, and being disrobed for what it truly is... a fascinating Devil that allures and seduces us away from the core of our being.

When we begin inner reflection, we begin to awaken from the sleep of the unaware. When we take time out daily, 15 minutes or more to mold the day before us, or reflect on all our actions past at the end of a day... when we use methods of inner healing and processes like dream analysis and meditation... we begin the spiritual discipline of awakening inside. These processes help us detect and monitor the subconscious. In self-connection, we begin self-correction and restore our connection to the Upper Forces of the Creator and Light. If we do this daily, something inside us shifts, cleans up, opens and softens. Suddenly, our spirit begins to be free and arise. We experience Grace. There is a quite peaceful unfolding, Joy and Bliss within arises. The Kabbalah speaks beautifully about this: “When man begins to connect to the Supreme Light, the correction begins so that he can be filled with Light, and the vessel (man) becomes bigger and can take in more Light.” Suddenly, we are aware and awake and can see both the Light and the Ego.

And why must we do this? We expand to be Light because the world is dark and confused, dirty and tired. We cannot continue to sleep. We move inward to work Ego with the intention of healing ourselves, expanding our light, allowing this to touch other people and help bring about lighter energies.
