STAR Dream Girl: Jenny Wong
October 15, 2006 | 12:00am
Jenny Wong is beginning to realize her dream of becoming a graphic artist after she finished Multimedia Arts from De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. "I took the course without any creativity in me," she begins. Her mom, the very person she looks up to, advised her not to give up. "So I strived hard to learn everything I did not sleep for days, got harsh comments from professors and cried a lot," shares Jenny, who still believes it was all worth it.
Now, the 21-year-old cum laude graduate is a graphic artist at TV giant GMA-7. She designs plugs for the networks regional TV shows and promotions. She philosophizes, "I believe that anything is possible if you just put your heart in it and youre serious about it. You wont be able to achieve anything if half of yourself does not even like what youre doing."
This 5-ft.-4-in. Chinese cutie who loves to eat ice cream is the second daughter in David and Mae (nee Tan) Wongs brood of four. She loves the beach and enjoys it the most during sunsets and when there are only a few people combing the beach. The homebody in her loves collecting DVDs and watching them over and over again.
Jenny, who says her chinky eyes are her best assets, feels most beautiful when she wakes up in the morning and looks at herself in the mirror. "Life must be understood backwards; but it must be lived forward," says Jenny, who speaks both Fookien and Mandarin fluently.
Because of her Oriental features, people often mistake her for a snob. "Im a very quiet and shy person at first, but when I warm up, I become very talkative. I talk non-stop about anything and I talk fast," she quips.
In the near future, she plans to take up further studies in Multimedia Arts abroad because "it will give me more edge."
To her, a STAR Dream Girl is simple yet confident. Jerni May H. Camposano
