Blossoms of love

Hundreds upon hundreds of blooms turned the Santuario de San Antonio Church into a flower garden at the recent wedding of Joseph Ewart and Maria Angela Dizon. Joe and Angela, the children of Francisco and Joyce Dizon and Hazel Ellen Ewart, are bankers who met in New York while working for the Mergers & Acquisitions arm of Deutsche Bank. On the special day of their union, the couple pulled out all stops to make this occasion a day to remember. The modern Filipino themed wedding had guests from all over the world, even the groom’s family from Australia, in piña barongs and stylized ternos. After the grand wedding, Joe and Angela’s fairy tale continues with their honeymoon in Botswana and Cairo, and finally, to their new home in Sydney.

An Ilonggo party

Mandarin Oriental, Manila recently featured the Iloilo’s exciting and vibrant cuisine, prepared by Ilonggo guest chef-restaurateur Pauline Gorriceta-Banusing, as well as a glimpse of the province’s colorful arts and culture in a two-week Filipino Heritage celebration billed Manamit — An Ilonggo Culinary Festival. Versatile chef Pauline brought much of Iloilo’s sumptuous cuisine to every diner’s delight. The Captain’s Bar was transformed into a rich showcase of Iloilo’s rich cultural heritage, as eminent Ilonggo stylist Robert Blancaflor played up the vibrant hues and patterns of the hablon in the table arrangements.
