One fine polo day
"Sense of humor is the oil of life’s engine. Without it, the machinery creaks and groans. No lot is so hard, no aspect of things is so grim, but it relaxes before a hearty laugh." –George S. Merriam
In a tribute to the late tycoon, shirt brand Van Heusen recently sponsored the 2006 Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup at the Manila Polo Cup. It was the year’s most awaited polo event as the country’s finest polo players, sports enthusiasts and their families, as well as international players from Chile and Spain gathered for a competitive weekend.
The cup was launched by Zobel’s family last year to celebrate the visionary businessman’s lifetime affair with horses and polo, aptly called the "game of kings." The polo players, led by Enrique’s son Iñigo Zobel and Cup MVP David Stirling, all had a grand time indulging in the sport they loved. After the match, everyone enjoyed a fine cocktail party as they celebrated the day’s competition and international camaraderie.
See you at next year’s match!

Big things are happening in the breezy city of Lipa in Batangas. The Summit Point Golf Course & Residential Estates recently held its inaugural celebrations with a golf tournament for its special friends, which included a merry mix of government officials, celebrities, top businessmen and the upper echelon of high society. The day was indeed perfect for golf at the fabulous Summit Point Golf Course designed by world-famous course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr.; everyone enjoyed the spectacular view of Mt. Malarayat and Mt. Makiling. At the tournament were Sta. Lucia Realty & Development Inc.’s president Exequiel Robles; Summit Point landowners former Batangas Gov. Conrad Leviste with sons Robbie, JC and Batangas Provincial Board Member Mark. Golfing enthusiasts from all over thoroughly enjoyed the day’s competition at the fabulous course, especially Sen. Ralph Recto and dashing Fairways & Bluewaters Golf and Country Club chairman Toti Cariño.
Congratulations for a memorable golf tournament!
