Style ID: Fashion's heat list

- Karrie Bitanga -
The heat is still on! Everyone seems to be planning her weekend getaway to escape the scorching sun and lie on the pool. Taking a break does not mean looking drab when you can look fab. I’ve asked these beach bums where they usually go and what their wardrobe is like when heading for their fave resort

Must-Haves:
(From top) Necklace by Get Happy • Nivea Sun Oil Spray • bikini by Sunset Brazil from Chocolate • bag from Sobre Bags

Wearing Elie Tahari Catrise shirt in paprika and Milly sequined circle skirt in tangerine (both from Itsie Bitsie Boutique), bag by Amina Aranaz, flip-flops from Havaianas

Anne’s business is just about every beach lover’s business – flip-flops. Everyone seems to be updated with every style of Havaianas that comes out, the latest craze in Manila. A water lover herself, she likes spending summer in Kawayan Cove, Boracay, Calatagan and Caliraya and is looking forward to visiting Bohol for the first time before the summer ends. A special getaway for her is Kawayan Cove, which is memorable for her because that is where she got married to her husband, Freddie. Her summer essentials include white pants, breezy tops, bikinis, sunblock, shades, a bottle of water and pairs and pairs of Havaianas, of course. She finds herself drawn to clothes and accessories that have a tropical look or feel because she just loves the beach, which explains her business. She’s always on the lookout for light, cool fabrics and thong sandals
Rocio Lobregat
Must-Haves:
(From left) Tanks from Hollister • Burt’s Bees lip balm • Armada face cover • mini skirts from Hollister

Wearing Letarte cover-up dress with beads and mini pailettes in turquoise from Itsie Bitsie, bikini by Seafolly from Rustan’s, flip-flops from Havaianas

Rocio just graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in International Studies. After experiencing stress in college, she looks forward to heading to the beach, most likely Boracay. This young, pretty woman is both beauty and brains as she hopes to get a job at the United Nations. When on vacation, her must-haves include a good book, her iPod, bikinis, flip-flops, sunblock and a good pair of sunglasses. She prefers to be known as simple and stylish and chooses clothes that are classic. She veers away from items that are too trendy.
Ines Delgado
Must-Haves:
(From left) Jet Camis with eyelets • Manuel Canovas one-piece swimsuits • CIRA wedge espadrille • Graham Kandiah Mykonos Jewel clutch

Wearing Milly petal print on chiffon wrap in petunia and Citizens of Humanity Kelly stretch pants in caspian, both from Itsie Bitsie

Ines established Itsie Bitsie more than three years ago. It’s a quaint shop in Malate that carries a nice mix of merchandise hand-picked from the world’s most luxurious brands. Mostly known for having fabulous bikinis, jeans and accessories, Itsie Bitsie is part of the summer to-go list of every beach bum in Manila. When going to the beach, Ines prefers bringing really comfortable kurtas, bold and colorful swimwear, vibrant tank tops, fun/bejeweled accessories like a really cute beach bag and espadrille. Her style is very pared down, simple and feminine and mixes this with urban, preppy, edgy and sometimes bohemian touches.
Angelique Villaraza
Must-Haves:
(From left) Bikini from Rustan’s • sandals by Rafe Totengco • sunglasses by Chloe • Bag by Aranaz

Wearing top from Kate Torralba, pants from Tyler, necklace by Arnel Papa, bangles from Get Happy, bag from Sobre Bags, sandals by Rafe Totengco

Being a public relations manager for L’Oreal Philippines could be quite hectic. That means having an unpredictable schedule, tons of deadlines and running from casual meetings to formal events. Because Angelique deals with pressure every day, it’s important that she balances work with play. That’s why she makes it a point to frequent her beach house in Tali or fly to Ananyana resort in Bohol or Nami in Boracay every so often. When she has time for a longer vacation, she prefers to go to Bali or Australia. She makes sure she brings good books, a bagful of hair, face and body care products, sunglasses, and phone numbers of friends who live in the city she’s visiting for tips on where to eat and shop. When dressing up in these places, she wears pieces that express her personality, those with lots of colors or customized clothes and accessories from her favorite designers
