BEAUTY'S SECRETS - BEAUTY'S SECRETS By Chechel Joson -
What if you can’t get to the nearest salon to get your hair fixed? What if you’re pressed for time and you’re in between meetings, and you have an important event that you just have to go to? What about your hair? Yes, you’ll just have to do it yourself! What products or kinds of brush do you use? And most importantly, how do you blow-dry your hair? Now, you start to panic. Don’t. Breathe. Relax. You will soon be enlightened on the things you need to "do." The secrets to getting soft beautiful, shiny, sexy hair will be revealed to you by the top hair experts from here and abroad.

Alex Carbonell, is one of the country’s leading hair authorities. He is the ambassador for Schwarzkopf, creative director of Propaganda salon and the learning director of Bench Fix salons.

Charles Dujic is one of Hollywood’s top hairstylists. Charles has worked with famous celebrities like Alyssa Milano, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rachel Hunter, Cate Blanchett and Catherine Zeta-Jones. He also does a lot of fashion magazine editorials and covers for Cosmopolitan (Australia, UK), Details, Elle, In Style (US, British), I.D., Vogue (Australian, Spanish), Vanity Fair, just to name a few.

Alex says:

All the products we use on our hair affect its condition and porosity. Generally speaking, the healthier the hair the shinier it gets and the longer it retains moisture. Bonacure has a wide range of hair products, cleansing, conditioning and treatment. Oasis has care and shine styling products. Start your regimen by using GLOSS shampoo to improve shine and moisture then massage with GLOSS or repair moisturizer to coat extremely porous hair.

For extremely damaged hair, use GLOSS treatment until hair goes back to 6.8 ph balance. Styling and blow-drying starts with care. Add a shine product such as moisture leave-in conditioner and distribute it evenly. The right tools such as a blow-dryer with 1800 watts, round brush with a boar bristle, and a paddle brush will give maximum sheen. The wetter the hair, the better. Never randomly blow-dry the hair to avoid any unwanted physical action like frizz, puffiness, etc. Blow-dry hair per area – start from the roots, down to the hair shaft and lastly, at the ends as passionately and as intensely as possible with very hot air. Section areas according to the size of hair brush. After blow-drying hair, finish by blow-drying with cold air. Cold air will add lots of moisture. Enhance it by applying finishing products with shine such as Magic. Remember you may have add-ons according to your hair’s porosity.

Charles suggests:

• Cleanse hair with a nourishing shampoo and use a moisturizing conditioner to make sure that you start your styling process with the optimum hair condition.

• Gently squeeze excess moisture from the hair with a dry towel.

• Apply a small amount of a lightweight styling product to add some body to your hair prior to blow-drying. I like Paul Mitchell hair sculpting lotion because it adds a little bit of hold to the finished style. Comb the lotion through your damp hair with a wide-tooth comb.

• Turn your head over and blow-dry most of the moisture out of the hair by ruffling through it with your fingers.

• When your hair is about 90 percent dry, take a large round bristle brush and smooth hair section at a time starting with the back sections. To smooth hair, hold the dryer above the brush keeping the air direction flowing downward on the brush as it smoothes through each section. Use the nozzle on the hair-dryer to keep the air flow concentrated. This process will remove the remaining 10 percent of the moisture and the natural bristles will polish the outer surface of the hair to produce extraordinary shine. Roll the top sections back away from the face using the large round brush like big rollers. This will give the hair some lift so it doesn’t lay flat to the head.

• Take a small amount of shine serum or gloss drops like Sebastian Laminates to add that extra shine, and to also control any fly away or stray hairs. Place a very small amount on the palm of one hand (the size of a pea) and then rub both hands together, start by applying the product first to the ends of your hair as you work up the hair strands to lastly apply on the hair at the roots. Use just your fingers to adjust hair into the finished look.

See what technique works for your hair and you’ll surely be amazed with the result. It’s not so hard after all. The experts have given you the tips. Now, that you know the tools, start doing the tricks and flip that sexy ‘do.
