My pet ‘faves’

JUST BETWEEN YOU & ME - JUST BETWEEN YOU & ME By Jacquilou Blanco -
I was asked by my friends the other day about what my favorites are. Favorite beauty products, food, restaurants, clothes’ store, etc.

I’d like to share these with you. Maybe you’ll find a thing or two you’d like to try.

Hand Sanitizer Gel – Bench bratsplash instant hand sanitizer gel with moisturizing aloe. My favorite scents are Green Apple and Kiwi Frost. I like them because they’re not sticky and they smell great.

Bench Organics Green Tea – An invigorating makeup remover and facial cleanser. These pre-moistened wipes are formulated with Apricot, Green Tea and Vitamin E acetate. I love using these when my face feels dirty or tired. They wake up my skin. When I’m in a hurry and I need to remove my makeup, these wipes are the best!

• I have two favorite lip balms: Liprageous Kiwi Lime Lip Balm and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada’s tutti frutti lip balm.

• For my colognes, it’s Calgon in the rain cologne, available at Robinsons Galleria and Watson’s outlets. And I recently discovered a very inexpensive body cologne at Mercury drugstore – Tiffany refreshing body cologne, for only P19.50. The scent is Moon Dust. The scent is lemony. What’s good about this is it’s in a small tube which makes it easy to put if you’re bringing a small bag, and for P19.50, how can you go wrong?

For washing my face, I use Glow Get It Lathering facial gel cleanser by Freeman and Cetaphil.

• To moisturize my body, I use two of my favorites: Nature’s Blessings Ylang Ylang Scented Virgin coconut oil and Body Shop’s Olive for Normal to Dry Skin with olive oil and cocoa butter to moisturize. For exfoliation, I use The Body Shop moisturizing exfoliator. If you are interested to try Nature’s Blessings products, they are available at P/H Padilla Building, Emerald Ave., Ortigas Center.

• For my cleanser, astringent and moisturizer, I use VMV Hypoallergenics Glykeros.

• For great nail care, soothing foot spas, I go to Tips ’n Toes Nail Salon at Morato Square Building, 306 Tomas Morato Ave., cor. Scout Madrianian St., Quezon City. You may inquire at 926-3374.

Ever since I discovered this nail spa, I haven’t gone elsewhere. It is a very cozy place. Their attendants are warm and friendly and most important, their service is great! The owner has arrangements with two eateries, Fleur de Lyss and Petit 4. So if you become hungry while having your nails done, you may order and they just include it in your bill. Going to Tips ’n Toes is always a relaxing and wonderful experience for me. Try them.

• For my facials, I go to Piandre in Timog Avenue and look for Agnes. She will pamper your face.

• For my jeans, Giordano is it for me. Its jeans fit me perfectly and I love its other stuff because they’re so easy and relaxed on my body.

• Cose‚ the brand young actress Shaina Magdayao endorses. I was able to get the most convenient baby blue wallet. I love it because it has three compartments, although the one in the middle is attached with a velcro. If you want to remove it at times, it’s okay. I have all credit cards on one compartment, my bills in one, and the other, receipts I get when I buy stuff. It is so convenient and it only costs me P100 plus.

• For my wheat bread I buy Fresh and Bake by Goldilocks and whole wheat with raisin at Delifrance.

• Old Manila Coffee House at the third level of Robinsons Galleria. I recently discovered this place. It’s quiet and serves good food. I always write my articles there. My favorites are their tuna sandwich melt with cheese and tomatoes. I have this with brewed coffee or hot chocolate which is so good. My daughter Ara and I have also recently tried their pastas. Puttanesca and Bolognese. The spaghetti noodles are cooked perfectly and the sauces are just yummy. The staff is always accommodating and the service is very good. It has a branch in Makati also.

• The store with no name. Yes, that’s the name of the store, located at level 3, Robinsons Galleria Expansion Mall. The name of the store intrigued me and so one day I entered to check out its stuff. It has really nice things. The young people will love them. They are very creative with their line. I was able to get a "train bag." Mine is baby blue although they have it in beige, too. This bag serves as a three-in-one thing for me. It has a mirror inside so I’ve used it as a makeup kit, a regular bag and a baunan. It’s just great! for P380. It’s my absolute favorite.

It also has a young, petite designer by the name of Jela. My daughters and I had our T-shirts designed by her. She is so good. Her work is great! You can bring your own T-shirt or you may choose from what they have.

My daughter Rikki Mae got a yellow T-shirt from their store and had her nickname placed at the back, Rik 01. Arabella, my youngest, brought her blue T-shirt and chose an anchor patch and her nickname Ara to be sequined. Jela used two colors of sequins, red and pink. They have it in different colors. I had her bead a J and a moon on my T-shirt. Ang linis ng trabaho niya and she takes pride in her work. She loves what she does and takes that extra mile for her customers. So if you want a garment that is specially designed and handcrafted, either for yourself or as a gift, go to that "store with no name" and look for Jela. Their T-shirts are so cute. The stuff they have for men are nice, too. They have colorful bags and bracelets, necklaces also. My children love their seat which is a swing. They can relax there while waiting for me. They also have two bean bag chairs that are so comfortable and games you can play while waiting. This store is my favorite. In the bag where they place what you buy, in it is written the store’s philosophy.

Among my favorites are: "We believe that the reason for our existence is to delight our customers with our products and services." "We believe that our products should be made of quality materials and workmanship providing our customers with honest value-for-money." "We believe in the power of the youth by supporting and empowering them by being an avenue for their creativity." "Our battle cry is ‘quality’ in all aspects of conducting our business."

The sticker tape that seals the bag says, "Because everybody is a somebody." The store with no name, you have to go there. Trust me.

Well, these are my favorites. If you want to try them, please do so. Then tell me about it. Till next Sunday! Take care and God bless!
