My first trip to Switzerland was in the springtime, when I was 16, with my parents and brother.

As my father never wanted to miss church on Sundays, we walked to the nearest church to our hotel in Geneva. This was in the ‘60s and aside from our family of four, there were only another four who attended church. It was an Anglican Church and the priest served communion in a chalice to everyone. We all knelt by the altar, and I was so glad he started with our side before the strangers on the other side drank from the same chalice. This was real wine unlike the grape juice we were used to in Protestant churches.

My second trip to Switzerland was in the summertime with a group of media from all over Asia. This was in the ‘90s.

We all boarded a train and the trip took us from one end of the country to the other end. In other words, from Geneva to Lucerne. It was like riding through a dozen winter postcards.

Well, my son Vernon and his wife Happee with their two kids, Winter and London, recently visited Switzerland in the winter of postcards in reality. Absolutely mind-boggling, and beautiful beyond description.

The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is the place to be, especially for someone facing their fear of heights.

They saw the real Matterhorn, not the one in Disneyland, and all the snow-covered mountains.

They all rode the cable car up the snowy mountain. I don’t think I could have survived the freezing temperatures, but when you’re young, you can surmount anything and enjoy being in a glacier paradise!

Switzerland, which has traditionally maintained itself as neutral, can be enjoyed throughout its four seasons. Perhaps I can visit Switzerland in the autumn?
