F-beauty, edited

At The Beauty Edit Gallery at Spatio, Filipino beauty gets the recognition it deserves.
F-beauty as we know it today may have found its footing online, but the landscape has shifted. After years of discovering products through screens — think swatches, GRWM (Get Ready With Me), ingredient explainers, and creator reviews — Filipinos are craving something more tactile; not just transactional. The digital boom democratized beauty, yes, but it also led to fatigue.
Spatio at Opus Mall, Robinsons Malls’ newest concept space, saw the evolution of F-beauty — the innovation, the cultural pride, the rising sophistication of homegrown brands — and recognized a gap in how Filipinos were experiencing beauty.
“We wanted to create something transformative for the local beauty scene,” says Spatio deputy general manager Martin de Leon. “When we saw how founders and creatives connected with the concept, it became clear we weren’t just building a beauty gallery — we were shaping a movement that celebrates Filipino beauty in a new, elevated way.”
So they turned to The Beauty Edit, a platform and community known for discernment, storytelling, and credible curation founded by seasoned lifestyle journalist Nicole Limos, to build something that didn’t exist before. Just as with every The Beauty Edit issue, discovery box, and event and Spatio’s commitment to experiential retail, The Beauty Edit Gallery at Spatio restores the human element that made beauty exciting in the first place.
It’s a first-of-its-kind space where beauty shopping is designed with an editor’s approach. The gallery gathers 25 standout Filipino beauty brands (including the pioneering global Filipino brand VMV Hypoallergenics to trending newcomers like Enigma by content creator Raiza Contawi) where The Beauty Edit’s digital ethos becomes physical. Some of the best and underrated discoveries in F-beauty makeup, skincare, fragrance, and bodycare are presented not simply as aisles to shop, but as sections in a magazine you can walk through — each page shaped by editors, founders, and industry pros who guide you through the nuances of Filipino beauty today.
For its first setup, they have your beauty editor’s beauty editor Agoo Bengzon, now beauty director at Mega, and the EIC with the sharp cultural take, Preview’s Marj Ramos-Clemente, sharing their picks.
Limos, along with trusted content creators morena beauty Kai Javier and edgy style setter Pat Cortez create a look of their choosing with products you can actually shop at The Gallery. Experts like The Skin Inc.’s Dr. Windie Villarica explain ingredients worth knowing and the products that best harness them.
There are also edits by category (such as for when you just want a better hair routine) as well as a good ol’ “wall of fame” of staples and holy grails.
As a shopper, discovery feels grounded, considered, and personal again. It’s the perfect setting for those looking for the elusive IRL (In Real Life) “organic encounter” (Gen Z parlance for meetcutes) — whether it’s for their new favorite fragrance, or a new friend; each section is a conversation starter.
And for those who are still hesitant about F-beauty, both de Leon and The Beauty Edit hope stepping into The Gallery changes your mind. “‘Premium’ is no longer just about price,” says de Leon. “It’s about thoughtfulness, curation, and cultural relevance. This collaboration redefines premium as purposeful: rooted in local identity, but executed with global standards. It’s a new kind of sophistication, conscious, creative, and community-driven.”
It’s when what is “just” a store becomes so much more. I can’t help but feel a renewed sense of pride in what Filipino beauty can be. — MARBBIE TAGABUCBA
