Singapore Embassy celebrates 60th National Day

Aweek prior to the National Day, I had the pleasure of joining a table of 10 for lunch at Ambassador Constance See’s residence to get to know the lady ambassador who is a very sweet and down-to-earth person.
The celebration highlights the strong and growing partnership with the Philippines.
The ballroom was transformed into an elegant garden showcasing both nations’ national flowers — Singapore‘s Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid alongside our sampaguita.
More than a thousand guests from government, business and diplomatic corps, NGOs, civil society, academia and media gathered to celebrate Singapore’s diamond jubilee, demonstrating the strength of our bilateral ties.
In her remarks, See underscored the enduring and forward-looking nature of the Singapore and Philippine relationship.
The two nations celebrated 55 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2024. Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong visited Manila in June 2025 and met with our President and Cabinet ministers.
The ambassador also added that “Singapore considered the Philippines as one of their most trusted and steadfast friends.”
Ambassador See expressed Singapore’s support for the Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN 2026, stressing the shared commitment to international law and rules based on order as essential foundation for peace, stability and prosperity in Southeast Asia.
