On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of The Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP), a sumptuous evening of food and music was hosted by the officers and members of FCCP at the grand ballroom of the newly renovated Makati Shangri-La, which used to be my halfway house for at least a couple of decades,

since I lived in New Manila and worked out at Makati Shang. After my morning meetings and lunch meetings, I would go to the gym, rest and change for my evening events at the ladies’ lounge of the Makati Shangri-La.

I couldn’t miss this event because its immediate past president and event director Noel Gonzales, who owns Mueble Italiano, has been a good friend of mine since we met at the birthday celebration of Agile Zamora at the top of the newly opened Grand Hyatt.

The FCCP invited a few young artists to show how talented they were in singing, including Noel’s child Kris Gonzales. The highlight, of course, was the performance of Kuh Ledesma.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. refers to this milestone as a testament to the excellence of our young artists as well as to their adaptability to different art styles while staying true to our national heritage and identity. May this dinner ball, “A Night in Paris,” inspire more patrons to further support our scholars as they represent our country in universities and expositions both here and abroad

“Rest assured that this administration is with FCCP to enhance our local talent and help them reach their highest potential,” said President Marcos, adding, “We uphold that our Filipino artists are truly world class.”
