All hail the queens! Red Velvet is here,” PH ReVeLuv (the name of Red Velvet’s fans) proudly exclaimed, as they flocked and patiently waited for the beginning of Red Velvet’s sold-out concert at the Mall of Asia Arena last May 7.

“R to V in Manila” was the first-ever solo concert tour of Red Velvet in the Philippines. This is why since the announcement of the show, fans were filled with so much hype and anticipation to see these ladies perform. It is unfortunate, though, that member Joy had to be absent because of health reasons but nevertheless, remaining members Irene, Wendy, Seulgi, and Yeri made the night memorable for all.

The show proved that, indeed, Red Velvet is a powerhouse in the K-pop industry, as they showcased real versatility, talent, and charisma that can’t be easily mimicked by anyone else. The show spanned nearly three hours with a set list filled with all-time hits that showed both their bright and sultry sides.

Red Velvet powering up the crowd,

True royalty seemed to visit Manila as Red Velvet walked out of the LED screen shining with divine-looking light. The crowd couldn’t help but sing, dance, and chant all throughout the show from the first second of their opening, Feel My Rhythm, until they performed classic favorites such as Red Flavor, Psycho, and Bad Boy. The show was so great that the crowd couldn’t get enough, so there was a huge demand for a double encore that included the song Zimzalabim, which had everyone in ecstasy.

Red Velvet members were as delighted at the fans because of the warm support they’ve received since the beginning of their careers, and this was doubled when they saw and heard in person how much Filipino fans love them. As Irene said, the cheers were “louder than a World Cup” and that this special night would be etched in their memories forever.

As the show came to an end, Red Velvet promised to do shows frequently in Manila with complete members and more amazing performances that will always be worthy of ReVeLuv clamor.
