Camera Club of the Philippines opens 'Landscapes' exhibit ahead of centennial

MANILA, Philippines — The Camera Club of the Philippines opened "Landscapes," a photography exhibition marking the start of activities leading to the organization's centennial celebration in 2028.

Now on display at the Antonio Gallery in Century City Mall in Makati City, the exhibit features photographs that explore the relationship between people and the landscapes that shape their communities, history and identity.

Founded in 1928, the Camera Club of the Philippines is recognized as the country's oldest photography organization and among the world's longest-running photography societies.

For nearly a century, its members have documented the Philippines through images capturing its natural scenery, cultural heritage and the changing lives of its people.

"Landscapes" is the first in a series of exhibitions leading to the club's 100th anniversary.

According to the organization, the theme reflects the role of landscapes as settings where communities develop and where stories of history and culture continue to unfold.

The exhibition showcases photographs of mountains, coastlines, rural communities and urban skylines, highlighting the diversity of the Philippine environment.

Beyond presenting scenic views, the featured works aim to capture the connections between people and the places they inhabit.

The exhibit also highlights the club's long-standing tradition of documenting the country through photography.

Over the years, members have participated in photographic expeditions and the organization's "On The Spot" competitions, producing images that have contributed to the visual documentation of the Philippines.

The Camera Club of the Philippines said the exhibition reflects its continuing commitment to photography as both an artistic practice and a means of preserving the country's natural and cultural heritage as it prepares for its centennial celebration.

"Landscapes" is open to the public at the Antonio Gallery in Century City Mall, Makati.
