Baked Salmon and Singapore Chili Crab are the picks of the father-and-son caterer duo Steve and Christopher Tamayo.

MANILA, Philippines — As one of the country’s catering veterans, Steve Tamayo of Tamayo’s Catering is familiar with the long hours that come with the territory. Holidays? No such thing. When you’re in the service industry, you work on holidays.

His son Christopher can attest to that having spent time in the kitchen almost his entire life, first as his Steve was setting up the catering business in the ‘90s and then later, as a young adult working in the United States.

With the recent opening of Textures by Tamayo’s in Tagaytay, Christopher who is executive chef and owner will have his hands full on weekends and holidays. Despite this, he knows what his father would appreciate come Father’s Day.

“The perfect dish for Father’s Day for me is Singaporean Chili Crab and Salted Egg Prawns because they’re the favorites of my dad. Since it’s his day, he should enjoy what he loves the most!” Christopher said.

Asked what he thinks fathers might appreciate come June 21, Steve replied, “Baked salmon and steak. It’s a great gift because a well-prepared meal makes fathers feel appreciated and creates a core memory with their family.”
