MANILA, Philippines —  Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo was too shy to face her social media moniker “Bulacan Barbie” or “Barbie of Bulacan.”

At a recent interview with Philstar.com at the opening of Lacoste Pop-Up store in Greenbelt 5, Makati City where Chelsea was a guest, she was asked for her reaction to the moniker.

“Let’s skip that one,” the Filipino-Black American model-beauty queen from Bulacan shyly said, but professing her love for fashion – just like Barbie.

“Yes, of course!” she affirmed, “My mom has been my style icon.”

Recently, Chelsea starred in the new “La Bulaqueña” music video of her fellow Bulakenyos Orange & Lemons. The music video for the Filipino alternative pop group’s new track showcases the parallel storylines of Orange & Lemons and Manalo, and how they were deeply connected together by a turn-of-the-century portraiture called “Una Bulaqueña” in terms of geographic affinity and influence.
