Miss Nepal breaks stereotype at Miss Universe 2023 prelims
MANILA, Philippines — Nepal's bet Jane Garrett drew cheers from the crowd at the Miss Universe 2023 preliminary competition earlier in El Salvador.
She was a crowd favorite in the competition, breaking stereotypes for being the first plus-size candidate in the most prestigious pageant.
Jane is a nurse and business developer. She advocacates for body positivity and women's hormonal and mental health.
Since joining Miss Universe in 2017, Nepal's only placed finish was by Manita Devkota landing in the Top 10 the year Catriona Gray won.
