Spree as a bird

- PENNYLANE By  Rebecca C. Rodriguez -

The chances of winning in a raffle or, say, even the lotto jackpot prize are slimmer than Mick Jagger’s skinny pants. Make that a ratio of a million to one. As the Garbage song goes, you might need “a stroke of luck or a gift from God.”

For 22-year-old Wendy Briones of Muntilupa, she just oh-so happened to be at the right place and at the right time. While shopping for groceries on a cool Monday afternoon, little did she know that by buying her family’s supply of Sunsilk shampoo sachets, she would be the lucky winner of a P500,000 shopping spree.

Thanks to Sunsilk’s Great Hair Days, women can celebrate having beautiful locks every single day and enjoy winning prizes with the promo as well. “Sunsilk is the brand that gives women the boost of great hair,” says Ray Guinoo, brand manager of Sunsilk. “We provide real solutions to women’s everyday hair needs everywhere and we wanted them to celebrate their beautiful hair with great prizes.”

Admittedly, Briones is a true-blue Sunsilk user as she prefers the Soft Touch or the pink variant. She explains that since her hair is buhaghag, this particular shampoo makes her hair soft and shiny. Plus, it smells great, too.

“When I won, I just couldn’t believe that it was real,” says Briones. “Who would have thought that Sunsilk would choose that particular supermarket I was in? I was really shocked.”

As a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ospital ng Muntilupa, Briones proved that she has a heart of gold. Not only will she share her blessings with her family and loved ones but she also plans to donate a house to Gawad Kalinga, help the Sangguniang Kabataan in her area and of course, buy appliances for the hospital.

By winning the grand prize, Briones was given the chance to shop at Glorietta and Greenbelt. As the eldest of four, she really finds joy in being able to give her family and siblings the things they want.

Together with her family, they searched the entire mall for best buys. Most items came from Abenson and Ace Hardware to slowly build their new home. There is joy in being able to give to those she cares for.

As for herself, Briones bought a computer and an iPod. She explains, “With those two things, I can use them for my review and at least I can do my reports and work without any hassle.”

For Briones, this shopping spree is a way to give back to those who deserve it and being able to fulfill a dream of having a new home, making this experience a Great Hair Day Moment in itself and a lasting one.

To have your own great moment, look for Sunsilk sachets with the Sunsilk Great Hair Days logo, which are the official entry packs. The good news is, prizes can be claimed for every promo sachet pack.

Other grand prizes include a brand new Honda Civic and P150,000 room makeover from BLIMS. Plus, there are more exciting prizes, which include treats from Smart, Hallmark, McDonald’s, Marcella, Netopia, National Bookstore, Leonardo Bags, David’s Salon, Fitness First, Kameraworld, Genevieve Gozum and Automatic Center.

Exciting, huh? Well, Sunsilk is the secret weapon of how women can have glamorous hair. The brand truly understands that women’s hair is an emotional roller-coaster ride.

Guinoo concludes, “Sunsilk designed its wash, care and styling collections to address the most common hair dramas in 80 countries around the globe.”

There’s nothing like a good blow-out to make you feel like a star and you will surely have a happy ending.
