Metallic mania

Out of all the seasons, autumn has the coolest colors. (Well, because of the rainy weather we’ve been experiencing lately, it sure feels like autumn in the country). The new makeup shades – passionate pinks, warm cranberry and metallic blue – illuminate the face with molten, shimmering hues.

The Body Shop recently launched its autumn 2005 collection – Metallic Moods – at the Cat’s Lounge of the New World Hotel. From the name alone, you get a pretty good picture of what the collection is all about: more fashion-forward makeup choices to achieve looks such as smoky eyes, lush lips, or precious metals.

"Metallic Moods makeup is genuinely for you and me. Even if you’re made up, you will still see your real self. It’s really just about moods, and for this season, it’s metallic," says The Body Shop’s River Rosal. So, you get a fresh and effortless look from seductive tones.

Summit Media Publications, Mega Magazine Publishing Incorporated (MMPI), and ABS-CBN Publishing company together with makeup artists Leo Posadas, Ricci Chan, Marge Enrique, Robbie Pinera, and Ces Guerrero created different looks with the Metallic Moods collection for models Razell Anderson, Georgia Schulze, Joy Hendrickson, and Alex Escat. There was even a pictorial session after the fashion show by Jake Versoza.

Bright Ideas

For a flushed look in this pale, autumn season, try the special-edition Brilliance Powder in Cranberry (P995). These peachy-pink, warm rust and fuchsia tones add shimmer to the cheeks and even the hair. Just twist the flush blush and you’ll get sheer brilliance. Plus, it has a subtle cranberry fragrance. Perfect for those chilly, cozy evenings. What a bright idea, indeed.

Metal Eyes

A smoky look doesn’t have to be a frightening one. The eyes should be sophisticated, smoldering with lightness of touch, allowing this look to work for both day and night. The Body Shop’s Metal Eyes (P495) comes in three shades: Fawn Steel (gunmetal gray bronze), Pink Chrome (deep metallic coral shade) and Blue Platinum (enchanting metallic blue). These cream-to-powder eye shadows give a shimmer that’s so hardcore. Smudge around the whole eye even as far up as the eyebrow. To stay on the safe side, keep it to the crease of the eye and you’ll do fine.

Glimmer Glosses

To round up the autumn look, luxurious lips take on this effect when draped with more shimmer. For mouthwatering treats for the lips, the Glimmer Glosses (P495) in pale pinks and sweet peaches give a gorgeous sheer. They come in a twist pen in three shades: Passionate Berry (deep-purple berry), Harmony Pink (silver sparkle) and Precious Pink (soft peach shade). Whatever the color selection, let the lips lead and the rest of the makeup will follow.
