Your next skin-saving beauty supplement
Dear Rissa,
I love putting face creams and serums, but are oral beauty vitamins, like collagen supplements, really helpful to the skin?
Tricia
I’m a believer that you are what you eat, and that the outside is a reflection of what’s happening within. I’ve seen women who have made dietary and lifestyle changes, and how these made a huge difference not just to their weight, but also to their skin. Their complexion cleared up by making better food choices, drinking more water or quitting smoking.
So, yes, I believe beauty supplements can make a difference — so long as you take the right one.
I remember after giving birth to my firstborn, I had so much hairfall. Although such hormonal changes are expected after preganancy, I wanted to take the extra step in caring for my scalp and hair by taking supplements. Healthy Options was the first place I went to. Today, I still head to their stores even for what my children need to be healthy and look healthy.
What I really like now is the Healthy Options Collagen Complete supplement, which offers type I, II and III collagen that benefit not just the skin but even hair, nails, and joints, too. Collagen can’t really be replaced in the skin through collagen creams. A skincare secret among Japanese women is the youth-promoting effects of collagen supplements. The right collagen supplement can strenghen pore walls, slow down sagging skin, and make enlarged pores less visible. The result is more youthful-looking skin as one ages.
The Healthy Options Collagen Complete also boasts antioxidants that combat free radicals that damage cells, causing aging. Apart from offering the complete types of collagen, it is made even more compete by providing vitamin C, which is an essential co-factor in collagen synthesis.

Melissa shoes are stylish, comfortable, and yes, weather-proof!
These shoes are made for walking in the rain
Dear Lucy,
Now that it’s the rainy season, I’m having a dilemma as to what shoes to wear. I commute to work and have to deal with wet, dirty sidewalks and puddles. I don’t want to wear tsinelas or rain boots but still look stylish without having to lug around an extra pair of shoes with me. What kind of footwear would you recommend for me?
Jennylin
I would recommend Melissa shoes. They are stylish, comfortable, and yes, weather-proof! The material of Melissa shoes is of patented plastic called Melflex, created to improve the flexibility and quality of PVC. What I really like about it also is that it is hypoallergenic and odorless. Each rainy day would definitely go by easier with Melissa shoes always at the ready.
Another option would be sneakers, and if you are one of those who can pull off sneakers with a dress, then that is another good option to consider.
Lucy
