PPO ends its 31st season concert with symphonic music popularized by films

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra closes its season with a program featuring movie themes on April 11, 8 p.m. at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater) under the baton of Maestro Olivier Ochanine.

The program features some popular classics from the film music repertoire, including scores written for films and classical music written long ago but made famous through films.  Music includes Morning from Grieg’s Peer Gynt, selections from E.T. and The Good, the Bad & The Ugly, as well as the stunning Also Sprach Zarathustra of Richard Strauss, whose 150th birth anniversary will be commemorated in 2014, and whose prelude is known by all for its inclusion in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Ticket prices are P1,500, P1,200, P800, P500, with discounts available to students, senior citizens and groups. Subscription packages are also available for eight or four shows.

For inquiries and subscriptions, call the CCP Marketing Department at 832-1125 loc. 1806, the CCP Box Office at 832-3704 or Ticketworld at National Book Store at 891-9999.
