Beneath a shower of warm applause and even warmer embraces, the ever-charming Virginia “Bebot” Teves Laurel marked her milestone 80th birthday with a joyful celebration at the Alabang Country Club, surrounded by a wide circle of family and lifelong friends.

Looking radiant and full of energy, Bebot proved that elegance and zest for life only grow with the years.

Born in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, and raised in Dumaguete before pursuing her studies at Maryknoll in Manila, Bebot first spread her wings in the airline industry before channeling her entrepreneurial spirit into business. Today, she remains actively involved in the garment manufacturing company behind many corporate uniforms designed by her celebrated son, Rajo Laurel. She is also a licensed real estate broker whose passion for work is matched only by her love for music, having lent her voice to the iconic Carnation commercials in the late 1960s.

The proud matriarch beams over her four accomplished children—fashion designer and businessman Rajo, business executive Venisse, industrial designer John, and professional makeup artist Gela — and her 10 beloved grandchildren, who are among her greatest joys.

Appropriately for someone whose life has always been filled with music, the evening unfolded into a delightful concert of love. Musical performances by Bebot’s talented children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, choir mates and close friends transformed the evening into an unforgettable song-and-dance celebration, culminating with a snappy Chorus Line number with the graceful Bebot in the forefront. Every heartfelt performance reflected the deep affecton and admiration her family and friends have for the beloved birthday celebrant whose joyful spirit has inspired generations.

At 80, she continues to inspire with her grace, vitality, boundless optimism and unwavering enthusiasm for family, business, music and life itself — a beautiful reminder that the richest years are those lived with purpose, love and style.
