New ‘Slim’ air-conditioning innovation enhances room comfort and aesthetics
MANILA, Philippines — Adapting to the changing requirements of the air-conditioning and refrigeration sector is at the heart of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s innovative cooling technologies, one of which is the Mr. Slim Inverter Series, which was a breakthrough that helped replace big, bulky, and noisy air conditioners since its launch in 1982.
Through the years, Mr. Slim air conditioners became widely synonymous with sleek air conditioners that provide utmost room comfort while enhancing aesthetics. To further innovate on the Mr. Slim Inverter Series to suit specific air conditioning needs, Mitsubishi Electric, through local affiliate International Elevator and Equipment Inc. (IEE), recently introduced the PSY Series floor-standing air conditioner to the Philippine market in an unveiling event held at Conrad Hotel in Seaside Boulevard, Pasay City.
“The new PSY Series floor-standing air conditioner represents Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to continuously innovate according to what consumers need to enhance comfort, energy efficiency, and durability that are hallmarks of the Mitsubishi Electric standard of quality,” said IEE president Ramoncito Ocampo during the launch of its newest air-conditioner offering.
The PSY floor-standing air conditioner is positioned to diversify the capabilities of the Mr. Slim Inverter Series into one that answers the sudden need for air conditioners as it has easy and quick installation features.
“Our target has always been to provide for all air-conditioning needs, whether it’s in a small room, offices, and large commercial spaces. The new product line, the PSY floor-standing series, is one of the ways in which we expand the range of our air conditioning solutions,” explained Melecio B. Vicencio, IEE vice president.
As an inverter-type aircon, PSY floor-standing air conditioners similarly boost the space’s aesthetics because of its streamlined, lightweight design and provision of a four-way multi-directional piping connection to the indoor unit. This enables greater installation freedom, even at the corner of the room.
A quiet operation and an even distribution of airflow that eliminates uncomfortable drafts in office environments are also some of the foremost characteristics of the Mr. Slim Inverter Series that are infused in the PSY Series.
Nonilon Daguno, IEE AC/R manager, explains the specific features of the PSY Series during its launch at Conrad Hotel in Pasay City.
The air-conditioning technology has a cooling capacity that ranges from 8.8 kW to 13.4 kW. Its indoor unit boasts a long-life filter that has a maximum service life of about 2,500 office hours when used in average office conditions. Its “open-and-close grille” simplifies removal of the filter for cleaning. A filter check also notifies the user when filter maintenance is necessary.
Other features of the floor-standing air-conditioning technology include a weekly timer that enables setting of operation start and stop times; an auto-return function that automatically resets the temperature back to its original setting after a specified period of time to prevent overcooling; and a temperature range restriction that limits the maximum and minimum temperature settings. Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners also only use chlorine-free refrigerants that are safe to the ozone, thereby minimizing impact to the environment.
For easy maintenance, a self-diagnostic function informs the user of malfunctions that are displayed on the remote controller or the operation indicator. Operation failures are also recorded, allowing users to track when needed.
“The PSY series is one of our solutions in contributing to improved business and workplace productivity,” adds Vicencio. “This is the vision behind the cooling technology of the Mr. Slim Inverter Series, which is to make work and life more comfortable and energy-efficient.”
The newly launched PSY Series reflects Mitsubishi Electric and IEE’s “Changes for the Better” mantra, which means spurring continual change and growth by offering only the best services and latest technologies for the betterment of the community.
Mitsubishi Electric has ventured into air-conditioner production in 1954 and has since brought innovations to home and building cooling equipment, like the inverter air conditioners with wireless remote control and automatic vane in 1994. Today, its advanced air-conditioning technology is featured in the Mr. Slim Inverter Series that include the floor-mounted air conditioners and the ceiling-cassette, ceiling-concealed, ceiling-suspended, and outdoor air-conditioning units.
Since 1969, IEE has handled the design, sales, installation and maintenance of Mitsubishi Electric elevators and escalators in the Philippines. It ventured into air-conditioning in 1978 and has expanded into ventilation and cooling. Mitsubishi Electric equipment are found in schools and hospitals to premier office buildings and commercial establishments throughout the Philippines.
