Joy Barcoma urges Filipinos to choose wisely in 2028 elections amid flooding

MANILA, Philippines — Beauty queen and TV host Joy Barcoma urged Filipinos to make wiser choices in the 2028 national elections, citing the plight of communities forced to evacuate because of flooding.
Joy made the call after personally witnessing the conditions of residents affected by flooding in Kawit, Cavite, during a recent episode of GMA 7’s morning program “Unang Hirit.”
The program conducted a relief operation for evacuees in coordination with the Kapuso Foundation and visited residents who had been temporarily staying at an evacuation center.
In a Facebook post, Joy shared a video showing the conditions inside the evacuation center, which had also been affected by floodwaters.
The situation prompted Joy to remind voters about the importance of choosing public officials in the 2028 elections.
She said electing the right leaders could help address long-standing problems involving flooding and disaster preparedness.
Joy's remarks come as several communities continue to face the effects of heavy rains and flooding during the rainy season, highlighting the challenges faced by Filipinos who are forced to leave their homes during severe weather.
