Kris Aquino reveals new treatment as she marks mom Cory's 17th death anniv

MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino shared an emotional personal update as she marked the 17th anniversary of the death of her mother, former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, opening up about her grief, ongoing health battle, and the unwavering support she continues to receive from her two sons.
In an Instagram post, the "Queen of All Media" admitted that even after 17 years, she still finds it difficult to think about the suffering her mother endured before passing away in 2009.
"17 years ago at 2 AM, we lost our mom. We accepted her death intellectually because we witnessed how much she suffered. But can someone you cherished ever be forgotten? Until now when I watch families in conflict, I say, 'Sorry mom, you never deserved any of that,'" she wrote.
Kris also shared how her sons honored their grandmother's memory in different ways.
Her youngest son, Bimby, visited her after wrapping up his hosting stint at the 47th anniversary celebration of "Eat Bulaga," while her eldest son, Joshua, went to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque to visit the graves of Cory Aquino, former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., and former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
Alongside remembering her mother, Kris gave followers another update on her continuing battle with multiple autoimmune diseases, revealing that she has begun a new form of treatment after several previous therapies failed.
"I again tried another form of treatment, which has worked for some international celebrities as well as a few friends," she said.
Kris reiterated the promise she made to her sons that she would continue fighting despite the physical pain brought by her condition.
"I promised my sons I was going to fight until the end. I have never given details about the treatments that failed, the nights I cried until sunrise because the bones from 3 inches above my knee all the way to my ankle and up to the soles of my feet hurt with such cruelty that I broke my rule and sobbed in Bimb's arms.
"No child, especially one raised by a single parent should ever see the pain their mama or papa goes through because to worry is ours and not theirs."
The television host-actress also recounted an emotional recent encounter with Joshua that strengthened her resolve to keep fighting.
"Just last week, Kuya Josh was told by my nurses to let me sleep because I hadn't slept well over three nights. I could hear Kuya saying, 'Fast only, say hello to Mama only.' I buried my head further under the comforter, not wanting him to see how much tissue I wasn't fast enough to hide.
"Kuya saw my tear-streaked face. He pleaded, 'Mama please don't cry, I love you, I'll make you bantay. Mama here's my arm.'
"Kuya knew being cradled in his left arm and lying down where I can almost hear his heartbeat is a source of comfort that gives me hope and reminds me just for whom I continue to fight," she shared.
Kris ended her post by asking her late mother to continue watching over her as she prepares for another round of treatment.
"The next infusion is on Wednesday. Mom, please continue looking after your baby? Because I have 6'3" & 6'2" giant babies who pray every day & believe that God does answer prayers."
