More beautiful at 15
MANILA, Philippines - The beauty and wellness industry breathes competition. But for a strong player now standing more beautiful at 15 years, Bioessence epitomizes outstanding glamour and beauty.
From its humble beginning with a three-bed facial clinic in Davao City, the beauty company has now grown to 36 branches that provide products and services in the realm of skin care, spa and slimming.
Dr. Emma B. Guerrero, founder and president of Bioessence, explains that 15 years of experience sets the beauty and wellness chain of clinics apart from the other players.
Stability, expertise, high specialization and strong popular brands stand as the four strong posts of Bioessence.
Guerrero notes that crisis or no crisis, the present year is a good one for the company. “We are even much stronger and we achieved higher sales this year. Not only because of the economic crisis that more people need to relax but more people are seeing the difference of the new players compared to us who have been here for 15 years,” she says.
Bioessence traces its roots in Davao in 1994 as a pioneer player in the beauty and wellness industry. The growing popularity of pampering treatments established the road for the company to reach Manila. It then opened branches in SM Bacoor, Binondo, SM Fairview, SM Megamall, Las Piñas, SM Southmall and two branches in Sta. Lucia Mall. It also has branches in West Avenue in Quezon City and Malate. In the provinces, it has branches in Lipa, SM Lucena, SM Marilao, Tarlac, SM Pampanga, SM Baguio, Zamboanga and Cotabato.
In a bid to capture a little less discriminating market, Bioessence established FacialHaus in 1999 and FacialPlus in 2000 with branches in Fairview, Cubao, Kalookan City, Retiro, Las Piñas, Legazpi City, Roxas City, Naga City and Davao.
The fast-paced and stressful lifestyle created the bigger demand for spa treatments. To respond to this was Bioessence Serenity Spa in Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, with more branches in Visayas Ave., Quezon City, Legaspi St., Makati across Greenbelt 5 and Connecticut Drive, Greenhills.
Bioessence SlimZone, with branches in Shoppesville Arcade, Greenhills and Banaue St., Quezon City, was also put in place to specialize in the dieting and slimming needs of the Filipinos.
The company also put up Suay Thai to serve traditional Thai massage at very affordable prices. Suay Thai has branches in Davao, Kalookan City and Las Piñas.
As it celebrates 15 years of beauty and wellness, it unveiled last month the Bioessence Gold Spa to cater to the high-end market in its main office in West Avenue, Quezon City and in Marquee Mall in Angeles City, Pampanga. The Gold Spa is the sole distributor of popular Italian skin care brand Jean Kleibert that focuses on anti-aging facial treatments and non-invasive Botox.
“One thing nice about the company is that we have the high-end Gold, the middle market Bioessence, and the low-end market Facial Plus and Suay Thai. All of these are doing well. We cover all the markets as we offer all services — facial, slimming, spa and dermatological services,” Guerrero says.
Leaving beauty and wellness to expert hands, the people behind the company combine experience and specialization in pampering customers. Around 70 percent of the clinic chain’s 500 employees have been with the company for around six years while the rest, for 10 years.
“Another strength of ours is the high specialization of our people making them more focused on the service that they provide. We give priority to research and development that enable us to offer new products.”
“We are a strong popular brand. Instead of advertising, we expand and open a new branch. We will open the Sucat branch this December. We are getting better and bigger,” she adds.
Looking forward to more years of bringing beauty and wellness, the company plans to continuously upgrade its treatment facilities and utilize new architectural designs for the perfect spa experience. This way, it will continue to stand even more beautiful at 15 and beyond.
