Brunette-licious

BEAUTY'S SECRETS - BEAUTY'S SECRETS By Chechel Joson -
What do these famous Hollywood beauties like Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Mary-Louise Parker, Jessica Alba, Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Liv Tyler, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Garner, Katie Holmes, Claire Forlani, Mischa Barton, Kate Beckinsale and Salma Hayek – and supermodels like Adriana Lima, Giselle Bundchen, Esther Canadas, Leticia Casta, Chandra North and Elizabeth Hurley – have in common? Answer: They’re all stunningly beautiful and sexy brunettes.

It’s simply awesome to have brown hair. This is a great color to consider especially if you want a drastic ‘makeover’ regarding your lighter or darker hair color. The variations of this color work with majority of the skin tones, especially the ‘tanned’ ones. It’s one of the easiest colors to maintain and at the same time it makes the ‘damages’ less visible – especially to the majority who would change hair colors very often.

"Brunette hair colors such as major and minor reflect of auburn, auburn reds, mahogany, chestnut, chocolate browns and red violets are ideal for pale skin tone," says Alex Carbonell, one of the Philippines’ top hair stylists. Carbonell is the creative director of Propaganda, creative learning director of Bench Fix Salon, ambassador of Local Schwarzkopf and a Sebastian design artist. He adds: "These colors will surely add glow and radiance to people with pale skin. Also, tonal or monochromatic shades of brunette are considered as Fall/Winter 2006 colors. These colors may be used as base color with gold or copper streaks or can even be used as highlights to add depth and dimension in color texture."

For morena or tanned skin, Carbonell adds, brunette colors, however, may be quite dark. "This will also mean that the hair color, skin tone plus the luxury of makeup may all have the same harmonious tones. Brunettes that are brown in major reflect may be considered as an option. For example, light brown to dark blonde natural shade with auburn reflect or anything with minor reflects of auburn red, auburn matte browns may be applied on hairs haft or highlight your natural color with extreme minor reflects of red violets and violets. The principle behind this is for the playing of colors to blend well and complement your beautiful morena skin."

Simply put, playing with different shades of browns to create depth and harmony with your skin tone is crucial in making sure that you can sport the brunette look effectively and successfully.

I really like how this color ‘frames’ the face very well. It flatters your features by creating this subtle definition and it also gives a hint of just the right ‘fullness’ of your mane. Most important of all, it looks so natural. Make sure you create beauty and ‘harmony’ with your hair color by having the right makeup colors. Use earth tones on your eyes and brighten your face with a little bit of peach blush and finish with a nice natural nude lip color. It’s all about completing the look from your makeup which will harmonize the color to the mane that crowns your face.

"Brunettes can be sexy and sensual, deep and dramatic," Carbonell emphasizes.

With a statement like that from Carbonell, how can you go wrong?
