Its Christmas time in the city!
October 29, 2006 | 12:00am
Christmas is just around the corner. Christmas songs are being played; malls already have Christmas trees and other decor of the season. Bazaars here, there and everywhere have started to sprout as early as October.
Some people are already doing their Christmas shopping as early as now. Some of my friends have even gone to as far as Clark. The prices are reportedly so reasonable. A friend said the wallet she bought at Greenhills cost P20, but only P5 in Clark. Wow! Its really inexpensive. She brought home six bags and spent only P3,000.
I agree its wise to start shopping this early and avoid the Christmas rush. Start going around to check out stores where you can get good bargains. Id like my peso to go a long way.
I frequent Robinsons Galleria because its just across my daughters school. They just had a sale recently but most stores and their department stores are still on sale. Most are at 50 percent.
If youre planning to buy ladies apparel as gifts, check out Liberte at their Department Store. For shoes, Auztralian; and for bags, Kalique.
Also in Robinsons Galleria is 50th Avenue. Its like a tiangge but stylized. Check out the Leaf Store and Lilay. Leaf has womens clothes, bags and accessories. Some of their bags are on sale now. I have a lot of Leaf apparels.
Lilay is another store where I found the most comfortable wedge sandals and also white and rust wedge shoes. The store owner designs them herself. I dont see them anywhere else. They are so soft and comfortable. They are also on sale now. Youll find many good buys at 50th Avenue.
If youd like to give gifts from recycled paper like stationery, calendars, utility boxes, notebooks, go to Papemelroti. They have their stores at most SM branches. If youre in Morato area, at the second floor of their branch on Roces Avenue is their bookstore, Books for Less. They sell second hand and new books. They have a wide variety of books. You even get a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate for every P250 worth of purchase. And if you have used books you want to donate, bring them to Books for Less.
Another place you may want to try is Waltermart on E. Rodriguez. My daughter and I went there last week. We went to do our grocery. Aside from that, we found these really cute spaghetti strapped tops, with good cotton material for only P45. Not bad.
Outside the grocery, there was an array of stores with very good buys. I recommend you check them out, too.
So put on your walking shoes, get your Christmas list ready and check out these places in the city. Have fun!
