BEAUTY'S SECRETS - BEAUTY'S SECRETS By Chechel Joson -
As I was starting to get my things organized for my London trip, I thought, why not share some travel tips to my dear readers? Every time I plan to go out of town, I get stressed out because I don’t have enough time to get things prepared. Not only that, I always end up packing a heavy luggage.

Being well prepared saves money and time when you get to your destination. So first thing you do is to plan ahead. I mean, months ahead. This way, you won’t get stressed out knowing that you have everything you need for your trip. Worrying will make you look really tired.

A minimum of one month ahead will give you enough time to make sure you got everything covered. Make sure you have a checklist before you go to the store. One of the major things to keep in mind when packing is the luggage weight limit. Avoid bringing things which you won’t eventually need.

Also, know the climate of the country you’re headed to so you’ll know the necessary clothes and products to bring. In my case, it’s summer time in London. For skincare, I will need sun block (this SPF 50 UV protect by L’Oreal is one product I cannot live without since Rori Carlos had me try this on in one of our outdoor shoots), makeup remover (Shu Uemura cleansing oil is all I need), cleanser (L’Oreal’s white perfect will leave your skin fresh and clean and radiant looking), night cream (mostly anti-aging, like retinol and/or Dr. Huang’s vitamin A cream), toner (Dr. Huang’s clindamycine is one toner that "saves" my face), eye cream (I use L’Oreal’s Hydrafresh), anti-blemish gel ( L’Oreal’s Pure Zone saves me from worrying about any marks or zits), lip balm and Lancôme’s Sensation Totale radiance booster cream (this gives me a fresh look even if I have sleepless nights).

For dry hair, I use products to protect color-treated hair from the sun like Kerastase Chroma Protect. As for products to groom the hair in a minute L’Oreal’s Architect Wax and liss control is all I need.

To complete my toiletry kit – body wash, salt scrub in a sachet, body oil, hand cream, perfume, travel toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouth wash, q-tips, cotton balls, disinfectants and a mini first aid kit (which should also have antacids, ointments, etc.). My small pillbox contains, vitamins C and E and painkillers (you should include your medication here if you have any). The very important thing to remember here is to bring travel size products that will last you the duration of your stay so you don’t have to bring them back with you which will only add weight to your luggage. You want to have enough space for the new ‘goodies’ you got.

Keep your toiletries organized. Purchase a multifunctional travel kit with a built-in hanger.

Try your best not to clutter you makeup kit. For powder/foundation, Shu Uemura dual finish powder has enough coverage with SPF 25. I apply L’Oreal’s Sheer Cashmere foundation if I want to go out at night and get a sheer matte finish. For color, L’Oreal blush and Lancôme’s juicy tube palette which has four colors to cover both day and night wear will do. For a change from the day look, Lancôme’s water proof and smudge proof eyeliner will make wonders so even if you end up sleeping with your eyeliner on in the plane, you won’t wake up looking like a raccoon. Lastly, don’t forget your Maybelline’s XXL water proof mascara to open up the eyes even more so you look fabulous in any weather conditions.

Now that I’m all packed, the big question is, how do we look this fresh (like the model in the photo) when we get off the plane? As you all know, altitude dries the skin. So drink lots of liquids and avoid eating salty food (salt retains water in the body thus you get bloated). Drink before you take that long sleep, wash your face and apply a hydrating face lotion to keep moisture sealed in your skin. Obviously, you need your ‘freshen-up’ kit with you in the plane.

Just take a small cleanser, hydrating moisturizer, exfoliant, eye cream and lip balm. Remember, the most important thing is to get a good sleep. When you wake up and if you still find that your skin is dry or is peeling, wash your face and gently exfoliate. Moisturize first before you even out your skin tone with a concealer or a tinted moisturizer. Set it with powder. Add a bit of color on your cheeks, curl your lashes (apply mascara if you wish) and finish with a gloss and voila, an I-got-an-eight-hour-sleep fresh look!

As for the men, I envy how you guys can only have four products ready by Lancôme Home. In travel sizes, too! A cleansing gel, face scrub, recharging moisturizer and shaving foam and you’re all set. Life is not fair!

Get the look:

1. Cleanse. Tone and moisturize if needed.

2. Groom eyebrows.

3. Apply concealer/foundation to even out skin tone.

4. Set with loose powder.

5. Lightly brush on peach colored blush.

6. Curl lashes.

7. Apply mascara.

8. Finish with peach lip gloss.
