May pag-asa kina Olivarez at Dy

Umusad ang mga Filipino seeds na sina Pablo Olivarez II at Denise Dy sa finals sa kani-kani-lang dibisyon kahapon sa Phinma-International Tennis Federation (ITF) Juniors Championships sa Ynares Socio-Cultural Sports Center sa Pasig City.

Ginapi ng fifth-seeded na si Olivarez ang No. 6 Japenese na si Toshiya Suzuki, 6-3, 6-4 at itinakda ang kanilang paghaharap ng Taiwanese na si Lee Tung Han sa boys’ singles finals.

Pinataob naman ni Lee ang second-seed Fili-pino na si Miguel Lorenzo Narvaez, 6-2, 6-2 sa isa pang semifinal round.

Inaasahang muling maglalabas si Olivarez, na lalaro sa kanyang ika-10th ITF Juniors tournament ngayong taon laban kay Lee na ranked No. 429 sa ITF Juniors.

Samantala, kinailangan naman ng top-ranked na si Dy na makipaglaban ng husto sa Fil-Spanish na si Edilyn Balanga bago niya napasuko ito sa iskor na 6-2, 7-6 (7/3).

"I tried my best, it didn’t work out too well but I was able to pull through," wika ng 16-years-old na si Dy, mula sa San Jose, Califor-nia.

Tangka ni Dy at Balanga na lalaro sa doubles finals kontra sa Taiwanese duo na sina Miao Yuilyn at Lee Anjie ang korona sa Group 4 event na ito na suportado ng Dunlop balls, Holiday Inn Manila Galleria, Bayer Philippines at Futures Foundation.

Umiskor ang fourth seeds na sina Dy at Balanga ng 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-3 panalo laban sa top-seed Australians na sina Stephanie Vogt at Kathrina Negrin, habang gi-napi naman nina Miao at Lee kababayang third seed na si Lo Chiao Fan at Chen Mu Ying, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 noong nakaraang Biyernes.
