MANILA, Philippines — Veteran entertainment columnist Jobert Sucaldito made one final request to his longtime friend Boy Abunda before he died.

Boy confirmed the request during the August 3 episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," where he became emotional as he paid tribute to his close friend who died on Sunday, August 2.

The veteran TV host shared that Jobert had repeatedly asked him to ensure he would be given a dignified farewell when the time came.

"Totoo ho 'yan, ipinaalam po nila sa akin kahapon na siya ay pumanaw na. It was very difficult," Boy said.

He then explained why Jobert wanted him to be informed first.

"Ibibigay ko lamang po ang konteksto kung bakit gusto niyang ako ang unang makaalam dahil parati niyang sinasabi, ang tawag po sa akin nu'n ay 'Ser.' 'Ser, gusto ko, 'pag ako ay pumanaw, maayos ang aking libing.' At I promised to do that," Boy said.

Boy said he intends to honor that promise, assuring Jobert’s son, Carlo Brian, that he would help give his father the farewell he wished for.

"Bibigyan natin ng maayos na pamamaalam, maayos na libing ang iyong ama," Boy said.

He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family.

"Kaya sa lahat ng pamilya at kay Carlo, kay Brian, kami ay taos-pusong nakikiramay."

Describing Jobert as one of his closest friends, Boy said their relationship went beyond the entertainment industry and that he would always cherish their friendship.

"I cannot find a more loyal friend than Jobert. I will always remember him."

During the "Today's Talk" segment of Monday's episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the TV host also shared details surrounding Jobert’s death, citing information relayed by the columnist's son.

According to Boy, Carlo said his father suffered cardiac arrest after collapsing inside his room.

Jobert reportedly fell and hit his head before he was found unconscious by their housekeeper, who immediately rushed him to the Philippine Heart Center. He was later declared dead on arrival.

Boy also revealed that Jobert had been hospitalized last month after doctors discovered that two of his heart arteries were blocked.

Despite doctors recommending that he be admitted to the intensive care unit, Jobert allegedly declined and chose to return home instead.
