Congratulatory messages addressed to Cebu City Mayor Alfredo Jacinto

CEBUPEDIA - Clarence Paul Oaminal - The Freeman

“OFFICE OF THE MAYOR, MANILA. February 23, 1937.- My dear Mayor Jacinto. As Mayor of the City of Manila, I am happy to extend to you and to the other officials and residents of the City of Cebu our most cordial greetings. We rejoice at the inauguration of our newly chartered city for it does not only mark another step in the progress of our local government, but it also constitutes a just recognition of the increasing influence and of the tremendous capacity for good that city government enjoys in the Philippines. The creation of the City of Cebu is not due to mere chance or good fortune, but is due to a large degree to the enterprising and constructive spirit of its citizens. With its historical background and traditions, enhanced by the brilliant accomplishments of its public men and the able guidance of its new City Executive, this City destined to become one of the most respected and progressive cities of the country. May all the cities of the Philippines cooperate with every effort to maintain the high standard of city government and may they knit more closely to make this government more responsive to the best thought of our citizenry. With assurances of my highest esteem and consideration, I am. Sincerely yours, JUAN POSADAS, Mayor, City of Manila.”

“OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION. December 9, 1936. My dear Don Alfredo: Congratulations for your highly merited appointment as Mayor of Cebu. Faithfully yours, JUAN A. RIVERA, Provincial Governor.”

“PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF SAMAR, Catbalogan, December 7, 1936. My dear Mr. Jacinto: I have learned thru the columns of the newspapers I received from Manila today, that you have been appointed by President Quezon as the first Mayor of the City of Cebu. Please accept my hearty congratulation for your elevation to this position. Believe me that your appointment has caused me to rejoice, because it is not only a recognition of your individual qualities, but is also recognition of the worth of the Provincial Treasurers. With my best wishes for your success, I remain. Very sincerely yours, F.D. PACANA, Provincial Treasurer.”
