Team Patay and Team Buhay, choose

Comics will be used to encourage young voters to come out and vote in this coming May elections. This is something new. It will make our election more fun to take part in. Comics being what they are — comics.

Cebuanos are hurt real bad by senatorial candidate Grace Poe’s statement calling Cebuano voters names. She said her father FPJ lost to GMA because Cebuanos cheated in favor of Arroyo. Unless her statement is rectified, or better still, she would say sorry to Cebuanos, Grace will be a Poe on election day.

Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile says the government is incapable of feeding the people. I’m fed up listening to issues like this. If the government can’t feed our hungry, don’t just stand there and gripe. Feed them. Make them happy.

Ambassador Frank Benedicto paid me a visit recently. It’s a good feeling — it lifts you up — to be remembered by an old friend you’ve missed for ages except in the newspapers. Thank you, Frank. God bless.

The Catholic Church, through the Diocese of Bacolod, has classified the senatorial candidates into Team Patay and Team Buhay.

The Team Patay is composed of pro-RH Law candidates Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Francis Escudero, Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara and former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros. Also included in the Team Patay slate are Cagayan Rep. Juan Ponce “Jack” Enrile Jr. of UNA and Bayan Muna partylist Rep. Teddy Casiño.

Team Buhay is made up of UNA candidates San Juan City Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada, Zambales Rep. Milagros “Mitos” Magsaysay and Sen. Gregorio Honasan. Also Sen. Antonio Trillanes, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, and former Las Piñas City Rep. Cynthia Villar.

This classification of candidates, which Sen. Cayetano denounced as name-calling, is making it easier for election observers to determine the validity or non-validity of the existence of the Catholic vote in the Philippines. So let’s wait and see.

OVERHEARD. Did you know that there are some taxi drivers who supplement their daily take-home earnings by serving as “agents” for some commercial sex workers? This was revealed in the conversation of two women, both cabbies’ wives. Said one: “Tungod sa kapait sa panahon, si Dodong (not his real name) mapugos nalang og pamugaw (acting as pimp). Kon suwertihon katulohon kadoble ang kasagaran niyang kita.” Said the other wife: “Si Tonio (not his real name) di gyud mamugaw oy. Usahay kuwang rasa boundary (abang sa taxi) ang kita.”
