DepEd, tinapyasan ng P12 bilyong pondo ng Kongreso
MANILA, Philippines — Ikinalungkot ni Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara ang desisyon ng Kongreso na tapyasan ng P12 bilyon ang pondo ng kanilang departamento, sa ilalim ng 2025 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
Ang kanyang kalungkutan ay isinapubliko ni Angara sa isang paskil sa kanyang X official account.
“Sad to learn that both Houses of Congress have decided to decrease by P12 billion the budget the President proposed for DepEd for 2025,” tweet ni Angara. “This reverses a trend in recent years where Congress adds even more to the education budget (save for one year during pandemic).”
Ang naturang pondo ay magagamit sana aniya ng DepEd para sa libu-libong computers/gadgets ng mga mag-aaral sa public schools.
Dismayado rin ang kalihim dahil tila mas pinahalagahan ng mga mambabatas ang mga imprastraktura kumpara sa edukasyon ng mga kabataan, matapos na dagdagan ng mga ito ng P289 bilyong pondo ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Infrastructure is important but so is investing in our people and human capital. The digital divide will widen,” aniya pa.
