SMC tutulong sa pagpapagawa sa Rizal Stadium

MANILA, Philippines - Handang ibigay ng San Miguel Corp. ang anumang tulong sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at sa Philippine Football Federation (PFF) para sa pagpapagawa sa maalamat nang Rizal Memorial Stadium sa Malate, Manila.

Ang naturang football stadium ang siyang pagdarausan ng home match ng Philippine Azkals kontra Red Braves ng Sri Lanka para sa 2014 World Qualifier.

Hindi naman ibinunyag ni PSC Commissioner Chito Loyzaga ang halaga ng ibibigay ng SMC.

“Since they are asking that they be allowed to inspect the venue, I surmised that SMC is willing to shoulder the expenses in making the stadium met the standard set by FIFA (International Football Federation), “ wika ni Loyzaga sa PFF.

Nakatakda ang home game ng Azkals laban sa Red Braves sa Hulyo 3, samantalang ang away match ay sa Hunyo 29 pakakawalan sa Colombo, Sri Lanka.

“For us in the PSC, we welcome that kasi kung magagawang international standard ang stadium, maganda, di ba? That really is our target, to improve the standard of the stadium. Kung mangyayari ‘yun, hindi lang football, maging iba pang sporting events ay puwede na nating i-host,’ dagdag pa nito.

Maliban sa Rizal Stadium, ikinunsidera rin ng PFF ang Panaad Stadium sa Bacolod City bilang venue ng home game ng Azkals at Red Braves.

Ngunit sa kabila ng pagkakatayo sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex noong 1934, ito pa rin ang pinili ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) kumpara sa Panaad Stadium.

“The scoreboard should also be repaired in acordance to the standard set by FIFA,” sabi ni Loyzaga, dating executive ng SMC bago iniluklok ni Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino bilang Commissioner ng PSC. “And I think SMC would be amenable to install those that are needed.”
