RP riders puwede nang makakuha ng UCI license

MANILA, Philippines - Kung sinumang national cyclist ang gustong humingi ng UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) sa Philippine Integrated Cycling Federation (PhilCycling) para sa 26th Southeast Asian Games sa Palembang, Indonesia ay maaari nang makakuha.

Sinabi ni PhilCycling president at Ta­gaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino na ayaw na niyang maulit ang nang­yari noong 2009 kung saan walang siklistang nakalahok sa Laos SEA Games.

“Ayaw na po nating maulit ‘yung nangyari sa 2009 Laos SEA Games. Kung may tatakbo sa aming grupo, bibigyan natin ng (UCI) license at kung may tatakbo sa kabilang grupo, bibigyan rin natin ng license,” ani Tolentino.

Hindi nagbigay si Tolentino ng UCI license sa 13 national riders na lalahok sa­na sa 2009 Laos SEA Games bunga na rin ng hindi pagkilala sa kanya ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, Jr.

Si Tolentino naman ang tinanghal na lehitimong cycling federation chief sa bansa ng UCI.

Bukod sa PhilCycling, ang Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (ICFP) ni dating Philippine Sports Commis­sion (PSC) chairman Philip Ella Juico ang nakikipag-agawan sa basbas ng POC. Sinabi ni Tolentino na bukas siya sa isang pakikipag-usap sa kampo ni Juico.
