May pakulo ang GBP para sa mga customers ng kanilang isponsor

Bunga ng nangyayaring global economic crisis, isang pakulo ang naisip ni Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Schaefer ng Golden Boy Promotions hinggil sa pagbibigay ng presenting sponsors ng rebates sa mga customer na bibili ng kanilang produkto para sa laban nina Manny Pacquiao at Oscar Dela Hoya.   

Ang Coca-Cola at ang Tecate beer ay nagaalok ng mailin rebate coupons na nagkakahalaga ng $20, habang $10 rebate naman ang alok ng Cazadores tequila.

Ang nasabing “Dream Match” nina Pacquiao at Dela Hoya, naging sold out ilang oras matapos buksan ang takilya, ay isasaera ng HBO Sports via Pay-Per-View (PPV) na may suggested retail price na $54.95.

“We know these are tough times economically,” wika ni Schaefer. “With the help of these rebates, which we think is unprecedented in pay per view, more fans will be able to afford to see this great event.”

Makikita rin ang mga rebate coupons sa six-packs ng Coke’s Full Throttle energy drink at sa 18-packs ng Tecate beer.

Inaasahan ni Schaefer na aabot sa 30,000 hanggang 40,000 tao ang manonood ng naturang non-title welter-weight fight ng 29-anyos na si Pacquiao at ng 35-anyos an si Dela Hoya sa ilang circuit locations ng MGM Mirage properties kung saan ang closed circuit seats ay nagkakahalaga ng $60. 

“We knew this would be popular with the fans, but it’s even more popular than we imagined,” sabi ni Schaefer. “Even with the (troubled) economy, we’re getting a great response.” (RC)
