SEA Games: Silver medal sa Wushu

PENANG - Naisukbit ng Philippines ang kauna-unahang medalya sa 21st Southeast Asian Games, isang silver medal na iniambag ng wushu specialist na si Lily So.

Si So ay pumangalawa sa women’s nanquan event sa Penang International Sports Arena dito para sa kanyang magandang debut.

Umiskor si So ng 9.26 puntos upang maungusan si Nguyen Thi Phuong ng Vietnam, ang 1999 World Cup champion na pumangatlo para sa bronze medal.

Malaking sorpresa ang naging tagumpay ng Myanmar nang maibulsa ni Ma Swe Thant ang gintong medalya sa kanyang naaning 9.35 puntos.

"It’s a good start for us. Hopefully we’ll get the gold in the night events," pahayag ni RP team deputy chief of mission at Wushu Federation of the Philippines president Juan Camacho.

Sina Willie Wang at Mark Robert Rosales ay tumapos bilang ikalima at ika-10 sa men’s chanquan habang ang rookie na si Janice Hung ay tumapos din bilang ika-10th sa women’s chanquan.
