Offensive to justices, maybe not to citizens

Mao ni ang title sa column ni Jarius Bondoc sa The Philippine Star bahin sa giingong “disturbing” nga pakigpulong ni Noynoy batok sa Korte Suprema. Atong masabot nga mahimo nga ang pakigpulong ni Noynoy nakasakit sa mga maghuhukom sa Korte Suprema, apan nakapahimuot tingali sa katawhan. 

Sa ato pa, mahimo nga ang baruganan o desisyon sa mga korte mahisupak sa mga perception ug kabubut-on sa katawhan. Kinsa man ang mopatigbabaw? 

Sa iyang controversial nga pakigpulong si Noynoy igo lang nga mibatbat, mi-narrate sa mga desisyon sa Korte Suprema sa mga isyo nga maglambigit ni Kongresista Gloria Arroyo. Aniay tipik sa maong pakigpulong ni Noynoy:

“We started by creating the Truth Commission, to look into the alleged widespread acts of corruption during the past administration … but we all know what happened: The Supreme Court said the formation of the Truth Commission was unconstitutional.

“It is within the Comelec’s duties to make certain that our elections remain fair. So it is but natural that they ask for assistance of the DOJ in investigation the allegations of cheating back in 2007. The formation of such panel is not uncommon, and yet it is now being questioned at the Supreme Court. They are also questioning the legality of the warrant of arrest issued by the Pasay Regional Trial Court to Mrs. Arroyo.

“We have been following all the right processes, still we are being accused of picking a fight. Who would not be suspicious of their true intent? “This is not the first time we were perplexed by a ruling of the Supreme Court. Art. VII, Sec. 15 of the Constitution states: ‘Two months immediately before the next   presidential elections and up to the end of his term, a President or Acting President shall not make appointments, except temporary ones to executive positions of the judiciary …. The question now is: did the Supreme Court violate the Constitution?”

Gihisgutan usab ni Noynoy ang mahitungod sa pagmugna og mga congressional districts, diin, samtang maoy pagbuot sa Constitution nga ibasi sa population, apan sa nahitabo sa Camarines Sur, wala tagda sa Korte Suprema ang gidaghanon sa molupyo.

Atong kutloon si Dean Amado Valdez sa University of the East College of Law: “Being head of the Executive, a political branch of government, the President spoke from the political side of the issue, not the judicial aspect. By political side, I mean the concern of the public about how the government should rule. The President must express the people’s wishes.”

Unya, title sa column ni William Esposo sa Philippine Star: “When a SC judgment conflicts with the people’s sense of justice.” Kang kinsa man nga hustisya ang mopatigbabaw?

Was it said in the right forum? Alang nako, personally, it was, tungod kay ang forum was about justice system. Asa man diay to isulti ni Noynoy, atubangan sa mga tanod o sa Lupong Tagapamayapa? Hain may mas “disturbing,” ang mahait nga pakigpulong o ang mga court decisions nga mag-declare nga unconstitutional ang tanang buhat sa usa ka Presidente, pabor sa laing Presidente?
