March and God’s presence
Whoa, goodness! Today is the first day of March! Did you have time to see the grand exit of February?
Just after sunset of February 28, were you able to catch the 7 planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune – in a rare “planetary parade” or “planetary alignment?”
This rare heavenly spectacle, which won’t happen again until 2040, brought God’s presence to mind and Isaiah 40:26: "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing." Isaiah 40:26, Psalm 8-3-9.
And Psalm 8:3-9: “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.
You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.”
On the 5th day of March, however, Ash Wednesday reminds all about mortality and our temporal stay here on earth and our eternal reunion with our Creator: "Remember that you are dust, and, to dust you shall return."
We proceed to March witnessing throughout the world the faithful together daily vigilantly waiting and storming heaven for the healing of beloved 88-year old Pope Francis.
Inspired by the show of unity and resolve of the youth/the veterans, the church/the schools, the needy poor/those in government during the 39th commemoration of the February 1986 Filipino People Power in EDSA and throughout the nation, gratefully, more Filipinos are now moving forward to remember the precious gift of the 1986 Filipino People Power to Filipinos and the world: that everyone can choose/determine/and attain, together as one nation, truth, freedom and justice.
What will March bring for our nation?
Will impeachment of DU30’s daughter proceed on charges like her mishandling/abuse of confidential and other funds?
How will the Supreme Court decide on the various petitions related to impeachment? And the PhilHealth issue?
Will the Filipino people see the return of their PhilHealth contributions for their better, expanded health services/privileges and delivery, rather than be used for investment?
Once again, this March, rice is promised by the Department of Agriculture to be sold at P49/kilo, lower than February prices. Still short, though, of BBM’s election promised price of P20/kilo.
Will more Filipinos have food to eat, homes, jobs from March, onward?
Definitely, as the election month of May is drawing nearer, Filipinos will hear promises of change, better life from all politicians, sincere or not.
Already, there are confirmed reports of certain candidates asking voters to list their names and be paid P10,000 or other amounts. Will COMELEC finally be able to disqualify such candidates?
Will COMELEC also move to have more collaborative partnerships to ensure that the May 2025 elections will ensure the safety/protection of voters and candidates and most especially the sacredness of the ballots?
Will Filipino voters be wiser this time and vote on principle, and not on the basis of the highest bid for their votes?
Can we see the youth, who constitute the most voters for this May election, organize to ensure the sanctity of the ballot and most importantly, to seriously reflect and select servant-leaders among the candidates?
Finally, this month, shall we continue to pray for God’s peace/truth/justice to reign within the hearts of all people/countries?
