June 23 declared holiday in Batac

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared June 23 a special non-working day in Batac, Ilocos Norte for the celebration of the city’s 18th charter anniversary.
Batac is the hometown of President Marcos.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the city of Batac be given an opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Proclamation 917 read.
Marcos is a registered voter of Barangay Lacub. He served as Ilocos Norte governor from 1983 to 1986 and 1998 to 2007, as well as representative of the second district from 1992 to 1995 and 2007 to 2010.
The Palace also issued Proclamation 918, declaring Aug. 14 a special non-working day in Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte for the town’s 66th founding anniversary.
The proclamations were signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on May 30 and published in the Official Gazette on June 3.
