Get rid of personality politics and PCOS

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Philippine Star

Last Thursday a very important news story came out in the inside pages of the Philippine STAR, which blared, “SC voting on Erap case set next month.” Few people realize what this report could mean… that if the SC decides to disqualify former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada and install former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim back to the Mayor’s office in Manila, this can only mean the year 2015 would be an explosive one for the country because if this happens, we know too well that Erap or the Ejercitos won’t take this decision sitting down.

This scenario is the main topic of talks in coffee houses and Christmas parties where most people believe that the Aquino regime is clearly targeting the Ejercito/Estrada clan starting with the Supreme Court affirming the two resolutions of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), that unseated Laguna Governor Emilio Ramon “ER” Ejercito as Governor for spending P23 million in excess of the P4.5 million allowed under election rules.

When I wrote this story last Nov. 29, I already warned that possibly the next to fall is Erap… and last Thursday’s news story validates what my sources have revealed to me. What fueled those fears was that recent “reunion” between President Aquino and Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno. Many people believe there could be some kind of “quid pro quo” between the top officials of the Executive and Judiciary.

It is the instability of the Philippine government today that caused the creation of the National Transformation Council (NTC), especially that Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay has been accused of corruption, which he has never answered and has started to campaign for his presidential bid in Cebu. So without a clear candidate for President because DILG Sec. Mar Roxas can no longer lead the ruling Liberal Party, the future of the country is bleak. To add to our woes, the Comelec has totally disregarded all warnings not to allow Smartmatic to join again in the bidding for the new PCOS machines.

Now if the NTC assemblies have been asking the Aquino regime and all elective officials to resign, it is due to the fact that there is now hard evidence of massive electronic cheating with the use of  PCOS machines. Those solid evidence are part and parcel of the agenda of the NTC assemblies in Lipa, Cebu, Butuan, Clark and in Davao last week, which Atty. Glenn Chiong gave before the audience in all NTC assemblies a powerpoint presentation on how their votes were electronically stolen.

The other main event during NTC assemblies is the power point presentation of Rev. Greco Belgica who filed the case before the Supreme Court on the unconstitutionality of the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and the Priority Development Assistance Program (PDAF), which the Supreme Court totally agreed. So at the end of the presentations of Greco Belgica and Atty. Glenn Chiong, how do you think the audience would react? Naturally, they believe that all the current elected government officials in the 2013 elections are considered de facto officials so they might as well resign.

So now people are asking… if the Aquino Regime quits… who are the people behind the NTC and can they be trusted? In truth, the NTC had its first meeting in Cebu three-years ago when the big breaking international news happening in the Middle East was about the Arab Spring. These were groups that removed Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak and Libya’s Mummar Kaddafi that the international news media said was a “Leaderless revolution.”

The reason for this was due to the reality that the security apparatus of these dictatorial regimes were ruthless in killing any opposition to their masters. The leaders in the Arab spring only surfaced after Mubarak and Kaddafi were ousted. Hence the NTC members agreed to have no visible leader. But more importantly, the NTC aims to change the political landscape of our country, which today is still stuck in personality politics. Today the rich intellectual Filipinos and the poor ones have something in common, they keep on asking who is going to be our next Presidential candidate?

That Vice-Pres. Jejomar Binay’s popularity has taken a steep slide downwards has sent people scrambling as to who would be a better replacement for VP Binay? Just last Thursday; the Philippine Star also came up with a news report that blared, “LP may field party outsiders in 2016.” This is one of the clearest proofs that something is very wrong with our political system, which is why we are suing for real and genuine reforms.

Just imagine if the Republican Party in the US doesn’t have a strong enough candidate for President… and they would announce that they would look outside to look for that candidate, it would be the greatest of political blunders. But this is the Philippines where politicians do not have any ideology or scruples. So once more let’s fix our politics first…get rid of personality politics and electronic elections designed for cheating, then we can restore our confidence in our electoral process. If not… we see only trouble ahead!
