Manny's poverty

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

I heard a police officer say that many culprits had been caught in the act on CCTV. Only there, right?

* * *

How many shoplifters, bank robbers, etc. have already been arrested after they were caught red handed on CCTV?

It says here that some women are spending lots of money to keep their face youthful-looking. A US celebrity says: “Happiness is the best facelift.”

* * *

In an interview with GMA-7’s Jessica Soho recently, Manny Pacquiao said two things that hit me here ... here where the heart is.

* * *

Manny said he was so poor he had to ask a restaurant owner in Gensan to let him wash the dishes in exchange for a free meal.

* * *

If he needed pocket money, he would volunteer to help sell the sidewalk vendor’s wares hoping to be given some sort of a commission from the sales he had made.

* * *

Manny said he was so poor he could hardly eat a square meal. But he never begged. Every peso he paid for food he worked hard to earn it. So unlike those able-bodied persons you meet on our streets, who use their hands to beg not to work.

* * *

Even now, Manny works hard to earn every million dollars he has in his pocket and the other millions, too, that go to the BIR.

E-mail from Evaristo del Carmen of Tagbilaran City: “Have you been watching the televised Malacañang presscon on NBN lately? It’s presided over by Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte. She handles the presscon better than the other Palace spokespersons. She has a pleasing personality and a happy disposition. I think she can be a better image builder to P-Noy than Carandang or Lacierda, etc.”

* * *

Sir Evaristo is right in his postscript. The rise or fall of the President’s acceptance rating could sometimes be caused by the behavior of his people, whose responsibility is to build his image.
