Cabbie demands P250 from dog-carrying passenger

- The Ear -

ROUNDTRIP. A female passenger boarded one of the taxis lined at the streetside at the corner of Escario St. recently. Since she would be bringing her dog back from the petshop, she told the cabbie that she’s willing to pay for a double flagdown rate for the short roundtrip. The other cabbies commented, “Suwerteha da!” On the way back, the dog peed on the door handle. The passenger hastily cleaned it with alcohol wipes but the cabbie got angry and demanded that she pay an additional P250 on top of the double fare rate the passenger already paid. The cabbie said, “Nangihi man imong iro.”

MORE MONEY. The passenger explained that she already cleaned up the area and even offered to clean up the whole taxi, but what the cabbie wanted was money. To end the issue, the passenger decided to just give the driver more money but she later told The Ear, “Gipangwartahan gyud ko atong drayber.” She said she is asking the government to pass a law that would be beneficial to dog owners.
