Abusive cabbies

The World Cup is over. FIFA's Cup has runneth over. It was a great football show. Many got a kick watching the games.

Seriously now, I heard my friend and media colleague Bobby Nalzaro give some abusive taxi drivers operating at the waterfront a piece of his mind a few mornings ago. And I cheered "Yes!"

I have been hearing complaints against many cabbies making suckers of ship passengers from places outside Cebu. They don't use the taximeter but instead verbally charge passengers excessive fares.

It was an angry Bobby Nalzaro I heard taking these abusive cabbies to task. I hope Bobby's anger will result in a better taxi service in the waterfront area.

Never mind those taxi drivers charging motel customers neck-high fares. Nobody's complaining. Hehe. They got to take it or leave it. Hehehe.

 Brand new Customs Commissioner Angelito Alvarez has vowed to go after influence peddlers. If another friend and media colleague Abe Licayan were still around he would no doubt say in his mocking English: "Let us to see."

Mrs. Maria Grace Tenorio of Mambaling, this city, wants to know why most of the parish churches in the city are closed at midday. "Ang balay sa Ginoo kanunay unta nga bukas alang niadtong gusto moduaw Kaniya sa Blessed Sacrament," Mrs. Tenorio said.

I read somewhere that the De La Salle University has started its centennial countdown. The University of the Visayas, which will be 100 years old from 1919, has also started making preparations this early for a big centennial celebration. It also coincides with the centennary of The FREEMAN.
